Intangible Objects

By Cosmic Cairns on April 11, 2024 1:08 am

I was just thinking about intangible objects and how crazy it is that there are things that exist that we possibly can't see or touch or sense at all but they're real.  Lots of stuff falls into this category whether it's something like a cloud we can see but can't really touch, or something like time that we can't see or touch at all, or something like love that we also can't see or touch but we experience nonetheless and in a different way than time.  Some of this stuff has major impacts on our lives even if in some sense they might be invented by humans.  It's actually a pretty big topic, I suppose, and I'm not trying to write a thesis about it or anything here.  Just thinking about it a little bit.

I can't pin down this nebulous feeling
I stare at the ceiling
And all of the things that really matter
Disperse and scatter
Like time and my mind, although I know them
Can't physically hold them
They impact me greatly but still they're just concepts
Intangible objects

And no matter what I unpeel
I'll never know what's for real
At least not for sure

Seems like there's so much beyond my senses
Sometimes I catch glimpses
Of other pathways I could have taken
When I awaken
From this hypnosis that I've been under
I'll sit and wonder
About the essence of all that's around me
Still it confounds me

And no matter what I unveil
It always feels like I've failed
To see the truth

Someday I'll hold clouds and walk on a rainbow
Wherever it goes
I'll paint a portrait in the likeness of sadness
Love hate and madness
Photograph a song, display it on a wall
In a museum hall
I'll understand the blueprints of space
And heavenly grace

And now way off in the distance
Another existence
Comes into view

dude you know what is crazy?  me listening to this intangible music about intangible objects

i like it when the vocals overlap, that feels like "tangible/intangible"

great job!  glad to be intangibly connected with you

A magnificent track you made. It made me think of intangible objects and left an ear worm in my head. Those melodies I can’t get out of my head now. thank you for the good music.

tangible entanglement, well done.

I like the track, I like the idea, I like the instrumentation, I like the vocals, I like the lyrics... but the drums are out of sync with the rest, no? They are late compared to other sounds.

Music is one of the best intangible things there is.  But the intangible connections I've made here are great, too!

Thanks for lending an ear to deposit that worm in and for your always kind comments.

Thanks for the feedback.  This is an area in general I probably need to focus in on more.

I really like the feeling the strummed guitar gives nice job!!! Very folksy, down to earth.

oh wow - @ 1:55 when it kicks into overdrive!
so lovely, this melody!

I cannot think about these things too much or I'll spiral into existential crisis mode...this track though, there's such a great freewheeling bounce to it -- awesome stuff!

hey this is another great one. The lyrics are far out smile. I also love that esoteric break in the middle...a bit like Pink Floyd used to do in the 60´s...a perfect pop ditty and then straight into outer space for a moment.

I enjoyed the playful dreamy sway this had to it.  Like I'm floating on an intangible cloud! Cool lil solo by the bendy synthguitar sound.  An uplifting track! smile

this is so on theme with my scattered brain - i went down a rabbit hole reading about axions yesterday - super relateable content & very delightful tune!

Thanks!  There's something about a strummed guitar that I always like.

Thanks!  I just sort of suddenly got the melody stuck in my head one day and was like, oh, I think I have this week's track!

I hear you.  Sometimes I have to stop myself from thinking about weird things because it becomes too much for sure.

I think chaos is an interesting element in music and I wanted to inject a little of it into the middle of this track.  Glad to hear that moment worked for you.

Dreams... clouds... bendy synthguitar sounds.  All great intangible things.  Thanks for listening!

Oh yeah, theoretical particles are interesting, but kind of mind boggling.  Even non-theoretical for sure real particles are kind of crazy to think about.  I'm no physicist, but the fact they've been able to discover these things is wild.
