Highdea (minilogue, piano, shimmer)

By Chrisfoo on July 18, 2020 9:07 pm

(working title)

Three things:

1.  I wasn't super motivated to work on anything album related this week, so I whipped this guy up.  I'm kind of digging it, so I'll build it out and throw some vocals on it at a later date.  Definitely have some ideas already.

2.  I scooped up Izotope Iris 2 (sample based synth) from Plugin Boutique for $10 this week.  I was eyeing it at the normal $150 price so this was awesome to see it this low.  Really fun and flexible tool for sound design.  Just wanted to spread the word about that deal.

3.  Hate to be needy, but if you guys have a minute would you mind following my new artist page on Spotify?  I'm going to be releasing my album under the artist name "Fuwl" and am going to try out the whole playlist pitching thing with some of the singles leading up to it.  I hear that the Spotify algorithm favors artists with existing followers on the platform so I'm trying to trick it into thinking I have fans.  I'd appreciate it if you guys would be willing!

Three things:
1. Really like the atmosphere on this.  That tremelo sound around 1:15 was especially cool, but all the sounds are great.  It would be interesting to see how vocals would add to what's already here.

2. $10 for a $150 synth is an awesome deal.  Might have to look into it.

3. I don't actually have a spotify account, but I'll look into making one.

1. Thanks man!  Yeah I've been putting tremolo on everything lately.

2. Yeah, for $10 I'd recommend it.  Definitely not a traditional synth if thats what you're looking for, but you can get some crazy unique and interesting sounds out of it if you play around with it.

3. No worries man, dont go create a Spotify account for this its no big deal.

The piano and pads blend really well together. Nice call and response between the echoic leads too!

Cool track, different than what I'm used to with that signature Foo voice and sound.  Added a follow to the Spotify pagem, good luck my friend.

Looking forward to hearing how you add vocals to the track. Feels like they could add another nice element to what you've already got here.

Very nice piano intro. I like the synth lines that ping pong on each side of the track. The bass sound is really good - that's a real bass? Cool track!

Good luck on your album. I don't have spotify so cannot really follow there.

Mmmm. When that groove hits at 0:24, it got me movin'. Vocals overtop this would be really nice. I'd love to hear it on the Spotify page.

It was no big deal, I just created a free account and followed you.  Also I thought that $10 deal was too good to pass up, so I went ahead and bought that iris 2.  Just played around with it a tiny bit and it seems pretty cool.  Definitely worth ten bucks.

Nice and light! Everything works super well together. I hope your stuff gets selected by the algorithm!!!

It's always funny when I forget that I've heard your track previews on IG and then I hit play here and I'm like "this sounds familiar, OH DERP!"  Nice instrumentation here and digging that spinning synth line that whirls throughout.  That's an excellent deal on Iris damn!  Followed ya on Spotify, i need to get my lazy ass on there eventually.  Almost 4 years of WB and not an album to show for it tongue doh!

Yeah definitely, its one of those tracks that I can just hear what the vocals need to be on it.  Looking forward to it.

Thanks man!  No, thats just one of the sampled basses in Logic actually.  No worries on the follow too!

Awesome, very much appreciated.  Thanks!  And I'm glad you're digging Iris 2.  I've been making some pretty weird stuff with it.

Haha I know same with yours, nice to hear the preview.  Thanks for the follow man, I appreciate it!  Yeah, why not throw an album together?  All you submissions seem pretty polished and release ready.  Its only like $40 through CD Baby for an album release.

Ah too bad I didn't see this earlier, I missed out on that sale.

Great track, also following on Spotify!

Nice work with that synth lead! Love the delay / reverb chain you got going, and there are some sweet little touches in this tune, I like the transition at 1:10 especially. Great stuff.

July 29, 2020 9:13 pm

Such tasty synth lead ... this kinda reminds me of Air.

August 1, 2020 3:38 pm

Great stuff man. That lead is so wonderfully cheesy. Mooore than happy to throw a spotify follow your way too!

August 2, 2020 11:24 am

That new bass sound really shines.  Love the synth lead licks as well! Followed on Spotify under my alias (Mike B) Looking forward to the new release!
