Culture Cruisers - Sand of Arrakis

By Celio_Morya on April 5, 2026 10:30 pm

Hello everyone,

This week I returned to Arrakis. I had already been there the week before, but it was a much Faster visit, and I didn’t really get the chance to fully experience this incredible planet and its people.

This time, I found myself in the heart of the desert, in more remote regions — places said to be home to Shai-Hulud, and to some of the most fearless Fremen. It was a special experience, where I was shown a ceremonial dance in honor of Shai-Hulud.

From a technical perspective, this was a huge challenge. I chose not to rely on any samples from the movie on the instrumental side, which pushed me to explore my creativity as much as possible. I spent few hours tongue working on this track throughout the week, looking to every detail and trying to achieve a sound  that could, humbly, live up to the world of Dune.

Just a small note: this week, Hans Zimmer performed a concert Here in Lisbon — unfortunately, I couldn’t Go. Even so, it may have inspired me even more and fueled the motivation behind what I’m sharing with you today.

Beautiful. Really clean mix and the vocal samples and instruments sound really clear and mysterious, and the atmosphere is immersive and rhythmic. If you pursue this approach further, you could try experimenting by letting some vocal motifs stay "spoken" or incidental, while others might start that way but then sink into the rest of the rhythmic layers almost like vocal percussion. Really fun track!

Excellent build of cinematic tension and love when the beat fully drops in with the throaty vocals.  Such a slick groove with the drums and bass.  Bad ass brass flares and flute too!  Well done!

This is absolutely spectacular!

One of my fav things on weekly beats this week. Perfectly captures the vibe of the film

Love the tuvan throat singing type sound.

Amazing! It really fits the mood of the movie. Great use of the orchestral sounds mixed in with the vocal samples.
Congrats!

This is incredible! Perfectly layered and mixed, so polished. Keep this up and Hans Zimmer might have to look for a new job smile

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Thank you 🙏

Wow, great soundtrack. Bladerunneresque brass mixed with Black Hawk Down like desert culture-ish sounds and hypnotic vocals.
