Get Funky!

By BOULDER D4SH on April 10, 2022 8:27 pm

Friend came over on Friday and he laid some funky bass over some drums. Rest was done this evening with laptop speakers on my kitchen table. Hope it sounds ok with proper speakers/headphones!

Cool horns and generally funky atmosphere! Cheers to your funky friend!

Horns are edited samples/loops from Splice. Gone are the days of sampling horns from vinyl smile

Oh cool! Thanks!

THAT IS CRAZY FUNKY! That slap is smooooth! Is that live playing? The beat is also perfect. I see you got some cool horn samples from Splice - there are really a lot of samples there, right? smile
The piano at 0:46 is really a nice subtle touch. This song is a trip, going everywhere at once, between the horns, the piano, the bass. I really enjoy this one! Bopping all the way!

That's some extreme funk.

Funky indeed. Great sample work.

Slap bass is played live with my 30 y old Epiphone. No edits other than selecting best takes. He played bass tracks for two of my earlier WB tracks. We are really old friends and this was the first time we do any music together. And definetly not the last, so be prepared for more funk coming this year!
