“Some of the folks I work with at the company — they say this lovingly — but I think that they sometimes refer to my attention as the Eye of Sauron.” - Mark Zuckerberg

› Lyrics

Lol, that bridge is awesome. Good job on the growls for this track, pleasant surprise haha. Nice job with the old school metal vibe too. I'm starting to see a trend with your feelings on Zuckerberg. I'm not surprised if that's an actual quote, so rediculous.

This was a super fun listen. I dug the growls as well! I thought the lyrics were super fun and I like how you ran with the Lord of the Rings imagery. I think I've forgotten to mention it up until this point but I've been digging your lyrics. The nerdy voice cracking "Hi my name is Mark" in the middle got me haha. That rhythm at around 1:38 is super nice. The bass and drums are sounding good. I really like the trebly tone of the bass and the snare sounds really snappy. Nice job!

Yes--real quote. Social media in general, I think, is really bad for society. Glad you liked it! I did not set out to write a metal song, but when I read the headlines about that Zuckerberg quote on Friday morning, the song wrote itself. Growls turned out way better than I would have thought, given my past flirtations with this style.

Thanks a ton! Glad you dig the lyrics. The songs that are easiest and most fun to work on for me, usually early on I come up with a vocal hook that includes a clever lyric, a catchy melody, and provides a strong motif for the rest of the lyrics to be written around. That nerdy section was a scratch take, intended to be throwaway, but when I listened back I laughed and smiled and knew it had to stay. Thanks for the feedback on the other pieces of the mix too!

HAHAHAH this track!!!!! The title got me more than anything but nice growls and heavy metal feel.

Definitely good that you kept the cracking teen voice saying "hi I'm mark" at the middle big_smile

As a side note on social media, I just wanna say what a nice community is weeklybeats. And it's small but I'd still call it a social network. I often think about this - how could social media at large be more like this? first I think it helps not to have likes but more personal connection through comments, and of course the creative focus invites people who are already prone to be more empathic than the general population, so there will be less grifting and hating. But is there anything else that can be learned and applied to other online places? So we don't end up swallowed by zucc-hell?

One thing I learned is to leave more nice comments on things I like, also in other social media. at least spread some love into the world.

anyway thanks for making something fun come out of dystopia!

Holy shit this is gold thank you fav

LOL at the voice crack, that was amazing.  You're good at the growling!

WOW "bend the knee or i'll break it off" is one of the most metal lyrics I've heard in a long time.  WOOO doggies.  Great quickstep feel with the drums.

I like that you channeled both anger and humor in this piece.  Both come through pretty clearly.

I appreciate this thoughtful comment. Thanks for bringing some positivity right here, right now! Maybe part of it is that everyone who is on here regularly is pretty invested in it for their own reasons. If you have to bring something to the table to play, maybe that inclines you to be more considerate of what other people brought too.

Haha I wondered how OD was going to feel about this one. Anger and humor -- yeah, that sums it up! Thanks for the feedback.

At least he comes out and says it. Thanks for listening!

I have trouble imagining what kind of people call someone lovingly "the eye of sauron". Or maybe the orc kind of people?

The lyrics and the music took me back to GWAR! This is more punk than metal, LOVE IT. The sequence from 1:10 is abslutely hilarious, I was laughing stupidly while listening to this. Awesome! smile
