Triangulum 2 Frontier Folksong

Some kinda space folk!

My daughter had recorded the original theme on our digital piano two years ago and I discovered it this week, I asked her if I could use it for weekly beats and she was very happy for me to!

Tried something new this week and recorded vocals to a track. All vocals recorded on the M8 mic.

Apologies to my wife for interrupting her video game to make her sing harmonies on the couch smile

excellent family affair here!

has a medieval vibe - downloaded!

It really gives me old school RPG vibes. Want to go explore on the world map or meet the character it's the theme for, or even speak to all the NPC on this city. Lovely voices and great harmonies on the second part. I really really liked this !

im all packed and ready for adventuring. what are we doing first?

Oh, very cool! Love that the family is involved, and that folksy melody sounds somehow both familiar and from a completely different planet. Nice work!

you asked for mixing feedback so here is mine:

it actually works really well for the vibe and the aesthetic, which is folksy, warm, close, intimate, natural, real, etc.

my only real note would be to add some reverb, mainly on your humming vocal.  as the other vocalists are doing vowel and consonant sounds "dah" - their "notes" have an attack and decay.  but you humming is like "MMM" kinda of like a square wave, so some reverb would help decay that AND put it in the same "physical location" as the triangle.  The triangle is kind of like "center stage" and i would want the singers on either side of it.  right now, the humming is a little upstage, but quiet.  i want it centerstage, and louder.  that might actually make no sense and actually change nothing but the other big tip is to act like you know what you are talking about when you give feedback so the recipient is like "omg that's genius"

Thanks so much, OMG that's genius!

This could definitely be a space quest theme song.

hah, thanks!

The performances are equal parts beautiful and adorable (especially wrt the description), and the main melody is strong enough for an PSG-era theme.

Thanks, that's very kind smile

kudos to your kid on the theme, to the singers, and to you for pulling it all together! it's a really cool marriage of the folky melody and feel with the synth sound

i listened when you posted on discord asking for mix feedback and meant to circle back. i think Drew is right on here ^ (omg, what a genius!)

i like the tone and panning of the vocals, and think a little of the same reverb you have on the synth would help it all feel more connected. that's where i would start. i might also try a light compression on the 2mix/master bus (just setting the threshold to where it's barely compressing on the peaks, like 1 or 2 db) to see if that gave everything a nice little glue.

but yeah, i think you've done a really nice job and i enjoyed listening multiple times. cheers!
