A tribute to a certain well-known California band.

I've had the basic chorus idea in my back pocket for a few months. I pulled it out this week, and developed the rest of it. It has been a lot of work, but I gave myself an easy week last week, so I guess I was in for it.

And yes, I decided that rhyming "at night" with "tonight" was acceptable.

The be mine bit was tasty. Another clean one

Damn dude, this is a banger. Really great vocal melodies from measure to measure and the harmonies and doubling on the vocals sounds excellent. The pause before the final chorus where you give your voice the telephone effect is a very nice touch too. All around excellent production and great playing too.

Wow! This is really really well done! Great lyrics and catchy melodies. I think I've definitely said this many times but I think you are a great lyricist. The instrumentals are also really well done. That opening riff definitely gave me 50's or 60's surf rock vibes even before I read your description. It's also cool that your pop-punk influence is also present, I think the mix of different influences works really well together. Very nice!

WOW. This a radio hit. Perfect production.

Nice! Lots of interesting production to keep it fun and plenty of creative guitar tones.

Oooh I can hear some beach boy doo wop backup harms in this too.  Excellent production.  Vocals sound so good in the mix and this sounds ready for radio rotation.  Nice work!

Fun, bouncy track!  It was also fun picking out all the Beach Boys references in the lyrics.  I think it's okay to rhyme "at night" with "tonight" but if you wanted to change it I think "I've got stars in my eyes alright" would work, too.  Or even "And the stars are in my sight."

Damn. That's about all I can say. I'm going to look for my surfboard (and I live in AZ). Seriously a hit. You never seem to take the easy way out with harmonies. That 4 part spot was dead on. Rolling background vocals in the back toward the end. Awesome dude.

Solid song, well recorded, nice melodies. Wouldn't it be nice to have nice weather, a surfboard and a couple of cold beers!

Dude, so pop!  I'm a cold-weather person, but this makes me ready for summer.  The bridge at 1:30 is great.

nicely done! also love the bridge - imo one of the trickiest things to do right. can def hear your Schlesinger/ FoW love coming through  smile

You are so professional and sound better every song.

this is defiantly one of your better songs, the way it all ties together just hit the spot big_smile

Thanks! Took me a little while to figure out the right chords/melody for that. But now I've added the minor to half-step up maj7 to my repertoire.

Thanks! Glad the doubling came through well. I struggle with that sometimes.  I kind of love that telephone effect moment.

Much appreciated! I spent a lot of time on the lyrics, so I'm always glad to hear that they come through.

Thanks so much! I was kinda afraid of making a tribute song that sounded bad, so I pushed really hard to try not to let that happen.

Thanks! I don't use my coil splits very often, but the situation called for it.

Thanks! Getting all those references in there was one of my favorite parts about the writing, so I'm glad you appreciated that. Good lyrical suggestions, thanks!

Thanks! I'm interested to hear about this "easy way out" you're talking about wink. The final chorus ended up being 8 different vocal tracks! 3 individual parts double tracked and panned out wide, then a baritone part and the lead "ad-lib" part in the center.

And wouldn't it be nice if I could write just 46 more songs a week this year! Thanks, mate!

Thanks a ton! I'm glad I imparted some of the spirit. I'm def a warm weather creature.

I think it's a violation of the WB TOS to upload a Fountains Of Wayne song
