Smooth jazz explosions

By BarristerPlong on August 11, 2024 3:31 pm

No genre is safe from my bullshit.
I wasn't really sure what I was doing this week and wanted to do something smooth at half speed then a second section at full tempo. It's a weird mishmash for sure and I'm not completely happy with it, but I eventually got so burned out tweaking it I decided it was time to just let it go.
Thanks for listening!

That guitar that comes in at the beginning is soooo nice, a perfect fit. The more distorted parts near the end reminds of God Is An Astronaut. Very cool

It's just the smoothest guitar in that first section, buttery smooth buttered strings butter guitar, and then someone sets it on fire. In the best possible way. Awesome track.

It started as a mockery of lounge music and I wound up loving it. I wanted to set the stage of some expensive cocktail lounge on a space station interrupted by catastrophe.

At first I had my guitar set to stun, then to KILL.
Though that is honestly a great name for my clean patch and my dirty patch. SET GUITARS TO KILL

Great track! Love how the first section builds - that arp feels faster, but then the bass comes in and absolutely establishes the mood. I’m with everyone else, the guitar in the beginning is perfect, so smooth. Great melodic line.

I was listening to the first half and saw your tags - “metal? How? …. Oh, like that!” Really like how you took the track someplace totally different, seriously fun! Great job.

It was a peaceful day, the jazz was smooth and everyone was happy, then the metal attacked, and everyone was happy.

put on my lobster bib (do people still use those? it will never not be funny to me to see adult humans wearing bibs to eat Fancy Food) and got all ready for some buttery smoothe guitar.
I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED.
then you knocked the popcorn out of my hand, jumped up on top of the piano, and rocked TF out
now i need a hug
and more popcorn

Thank you! It was fun using the same chord progression in aggressively different genres in the same song.

I'm certain those bibs still exist. It's got to be a tradition of some kind.
hugs
I'm sorry about your popcorn. My condolences.

I have to say, I really enjoyed the first half 😅 Not a huge fan of the guitar in the second half tbh, but I think it's just cause of the way it sounds. Such a great idea tho to (literally big_smile) shred the chill vibes to pieces

This was an awesome journey from start to finish! I really dug how this tune moved through quite a few different vibes and ended with that awesome noisy fuzzy guitars at the end. The main melody at the beginning was super catchy! Really nice work on this!

Loving the move from smooooooth to rawwwwwk! Extra-good solo melody here, too!

I enjoyed the first half way more than I thought I would. It's definitely a stark contrast between both sections for sure.

Thank you! It's a good reminder that I should just keep getting weird with it.

Thanks for listening! It's definitely a lesson that I need to do some clean guitar a little more.

I just totally love the fact that you started it as a mockery and ended up enjoying it 😅

The sound design on the synth voices is very nice.  That opening pluck sound immediately gave me Mass Effect vibes, in the best possible way. Really fun jazzy vibe, the melodic leads are great, very rich tones... just a nice track.

Excellent chilled vibes especially with that intro arp sparkling about so nicely.  The guitar sounds excellent and enjoyed how it plays off the drums.   Ooooh heavy bass in the middle leading to those distorted guitars \m/ hail yais!  Love those extra distorted tones in beteween the solo too.

I'm Commander Shepard, and this is my favorite comment on Weeklybeats.

I seem to be developing a habit of throwing the arps up first. It's just sparkle magic ear candy with delay.
I typically play around the 5th to 8th fret because I like pairing ringing open strings with 7ths or a flat 9 for that really beautiful chainsaw like distortion.
