Red Numbers

By BarristerPlong on April 12, 2026 2:58 pm

Back so soon? We're delighted to see you return. Please have a seat at the bar, Jack is already preparing your drink just as you like it.

Some sloooow jazz this week. This is my slowest bpm at a leasurely 40bpm. It's a traditional 1-6-2-5 then 3-6-2-5 jazz progression, done in a minor key instead of the usual major.
I had initially tried a couple of smooth jazzy lines on my guitar, but I could not nail the execution so I went with some nice shell voicings.

Happy week 15!

The way this develops is amazing. I didn't know what it was going to be from the stream. Once the layers and bass start getting really heavy, this elevates. It's so rounded. I appreciate all of the actually jazzy, unsettling chords. Juicy stuff.

I am very much here for BarristerPlong slow jazz on this rainy day. It’s a soothing vibe! 😎

Had to check out what the barrister was up to and he doesn’t disappoint!  Some spicy chord switch ups in there and I like the sustained brush snares going on. Great vibe

Moody, chilled out, and a little mysterious.  Feel like I'm deep in the corner of that smoky bar.

Lovely atmosphere

Loving the laid back cinematic feels and how those chords hit hard as they ring out.  Neon lights on a rain soaked evening nursing my drink.  heart

sooooo nice

Funky fresh. Why are the numbers red? I've had a few songs where I couldn't get out the guitar part I wanted either - still turned out great!

Sure could use that drink after a rough day, and I generally don't drink.
Great track to just stare down into your glass and contemplate life!

Because red is a great colour. The challenge with jazz licks here for me was the pace of it. I found it a little difficult to feel out 40bpm, it's so slow that I think I'd need to practice in it a lot to feel it better.

I don't drink or smoke but this genre of music makes me want to do both. heart

The e-piano on this is soooo glassy and pristine. And its so difficult to arrange a song with this slowness, there's so much movement here though, its magical.
