Lamenters Waltz

By BarristerPlong on July 19, 2026 4:31 pm

Zero sample track again this week, unintentionally. I've been toying with this progression a bit, it feels a little like a waltz in this iteration. This iteration I wanted to have an A and B section that could loop into each other. I think I'm forever chasing JRPG music I grew up with.

Happy week 29 pals!

I love that lead synth you bring in around 1:14. The elements are all playing nicely. This is a gem. This is the first thing I opened for 29 and I had to play it twice.

Gorgeous track! Love the vibe of this big_smile
Could listen to this for hours smile

It creates quite an immersive sound world to get lost in.  Very cinematic.  Nice work.

fantastic work. the bass, the chords and the glide strings work so freaking well together.

A lovely piece. Very dreamy and moody. Like you're visiting a place where time has stopped. Much like at the end of time in Chronotrigger, perhaps. Very well done!

Agree with Tiger, I had some CT feelings from this as well...also because you mentioned always chasing JRPGs during the listening party. Also because Chrono Trigger is never far from my mind heart

Lovely piece. Really liked the progression and where the bass goes with it that makes other voicings. And can we talk about that bass tone? Love how it has that upright bass waltz feel, but with a tone that is absolutely massive and enveloping. The sort of bass tone I imagine recording but have never been able to smile

A breath of fresh air, far away from the fast life and stress.
Thank you for the nice respite.

PLING PLONG! you're are chasing an elusive/illusive/allusive beast and you've got their trail alright!
a beautiful mindscape to swim through, excellent work!

PLONGSTA, I don’t know how you manage to do this every week. Especially without samples, this is incredible. You gotta send me a bundle if you don’t mind heart.

That pizzicato bass sounds huge! Also great use of microtiming/tempo fluctuation. Sounds very organic and atmospheric!

Love the deep bass with top "rhodes" epianos. Strings are very evocative as well.

This was very well orchestrated. It takes its time to build but is not boring at all.

Solid!
