Damask

By BarristerPlong on May 23, 2026 8:16 pm

This week has kinda been a whirlwind of distractions and fun things. Couple of friends inspired by my music have asked me to teach them how to make their own. Slowly working towards turning all my friends into a touring drug fueled jam band, Robgoblin and the Pisstones

Track this week started as a piano progression but the arpeggios quickly became the focus after I mutilated them with a ton of delay. It gives me Crono Cross vibes a little.

Man... That woodblock percussion is so badass, fits super nicely with the badass synths around it. Great!!!

The ping ponged arped chime thing is anime business for sure. I'm liking the little triplet effect in the perc loop too.

Yes bring on the havoc that would be your stuff love!
This is great, love the bouncing chimes, they root everything in a hypercity skyline.

maybe I said this in the chat already during the live session but I especially love this from the 1 minute mark when it starts sounding like something out of an 80s movie (big 80s nostalgic). adore this.

I like how the background is frantic and busy while the lead synths are much slower and spacier.  It's a cool effect.  Kind of like gliding along peacefully even as things are whizzing past you.  I'm here for the touring drug fueled jam band.

Oof the arps sound so good with the snappy drums! Sweet transition with the distorted filter too.  That deep bass really drives the track forward too.  Excellent work!

so precise and layered, lovely

Damask....
is what we wear on DAFACE

Dad

I really dug it. It was a high hat at first but I tried a bunch of different percussions and landed on that wood block.

The hypercity skyline quote really recontextualized it for me. You are dead on.

I hadn't thought about the contrast between the two instruments, but you are right. It's a really compelling effect.

Wrong track! lol, had the 2 tabs with your music planned to be played, comment was for this week tracks. Very nice percussive elements on this one with cool synths. You are crushing it this year!
