Awakening the Machine Spirit

By BarristerPlong on January 10, 2026 11:47 pm

Feeling a little out of my wheel house, but I found some chunky soundscapes I had to run with. Taking some inspiration from trash80's submission from last week and doing some modulation on the delay and reverb volume to give a huge pump and raising the feedback on the delay to make a huge high end wash of echoes.
Overall it went pretty well. I tried to find a spot to fit guitar but it's so damn thick I couldn't do it. I felt like the return to the A section needed a new lead or some ear candy but I got burnt out trying and finding nothing that worked.
Now to think what I'm gonna do next week...
Pondering my cogitator.

Oof such a crunchy bass! The pumping works so well for the genre too, awesome track!

YEAH heavy as hell! that pump is gnarly, real good.

Sick sounds.  It feels like nails are being drilled into my brain.  In a good way, of course.

😳 whoa this is crunchy and heavy, favorite

Oh damn, this is DAAAARK, I love it! Definitely some "evil Empire spreading evil across the universe" energy. I can already see the music video: each bit is a short 1 second close up of a high ranking member of the empire doing something terrible, hahaha...
Really cool stuff, man!

Damn!

Some dark pumping dirty low synths!

Good job. Those machines...

the thickness in this soooo good! love the growling bass. how can i not throw myself into the groove heart  spirit awoken!

That pumping bass is thiiiick and relentless. Love it.

Oh man, that hypnotic thump requires the body to move... and when the section a 1:54 kicks in totally just makes me want to punch the sky... I don't know that one can ask for much more from music... oh man and that ending... like the bass just shook it's self to pieces.  Dope track.

the spirit of gaessafelstein is strong in this one! hell yeah

heavy, really nice sound design.

oh man, i feel so powerful and evil. Props2u.   (Muhahahahaha)

For some reason in my head I was replaying Ghostrunner while listening to this. What an absolute trip, amazing work

80s family sitcom intro super cuts of war crimes with the soldiers turning to give the camera a thumbs up and a big smile.

High praise! Thank you! The B section was so much fun. Using the delay feedback to paint chords sounds really cool.

That game ruled. High praise! Thank you!

Great use of the effect but it’s the weaving melody that really pushes things along, some really nice transitions, great track and I love the posted image.

Massive, pulsating, head bobbing here. Fits the image and title perfectly, nice!

The entire Gesaffelstein Aleph album is amazing

HOLY CRAP. The pump with that crunchy bass is almost overwhelming in the best kind of way. Imagining hearing this on a massive PA, I think I might either disassociate or pass out. Or both. Intense and dark, but not in a rush. Amazing.

I definitely understand the reference now. Listened to and loved it! Thank you for the recco!

Yeah, this would be huge through a big PA. Next time I set up the wedding bands gear I'll blast this to test.
Thank you!

Now that is THICC.  Is that how the kids spell it?  haha.

Epic club vibes built for epic sound systems.

Don't play the music that loud, you don't want to wake up the dragon that sleeps under Mars!
I love how dark and eerie this is. The high synth really adds to the frenetic aspect of this track. HUGE sound and vibe!

I believe that is how the youths say it.

I bet the Void Dragon loves to party.

Very very good πŸ‘

lol guy is just one upping Trash80 now

Crazy mix of Cyberpunk, EBM, and ...the One Must Fall 2097 OST?

Dude the transition at 1:40 is awesome
The section A return is satisfying enough on it's own (but I can totally hear a lead there )
Really cool ending!

oh and downloaded that one too, I'm definitely playing this on the radio

Dooood this is so sick. I love that growly lurking bassline around 1:40ish.

I haven't thought about One Must Fall in a LONG time. Goodness that awoke a part of my brain long dormant.
Thanks so much for the download. It does in fact rule in the car cranked.
