SPCCSM - SPCCSM (Balloonbear MAGGOT DESTROYER Remix)

By Balloonbear on January 19, 2020 5:19 pm

SPCCSM is a chiptuner from Russia. Because I'm suppose to have new album quite soon I need to deliver a message to my audience that I'm still alive.

In this case I tried to do something similar to this one (similar in LSDj way):

I left original beginning and add a new patterns below. This is not as good as it should be, I will put more efforts to make it sound more interesting. The hardest part of making a remix is to write a more or less good melody with a bass sequence  you are not really familiar with.

What is your opinion fellows?

And don't forget to support your locals.

P.S. If 4Dboy will read this: Sorry that I haven't manage my time to work on your tracks. I guess it will be possible to figure out something later.

P.P.S. I'm still using LSDj 4.6.7. Should I update nj v. 7.7.7? I've heard that a lot had changed since 4.6.7 and I'm out of fashion.

damn, this hauls!

Yeah, it can be really interesting but hard writing melodies to progressions that you haven't written yourself. But it's great because it forces you out of your comfortzone.

What am I hearing when it drops? Did you slap a delay on the wav channel in post-production or is it just one of the pulse channels that adds some detail? Either way, it works really well

In fact there's no post mastering just a pure recording with fade-out (???). Just a good mixture of the intruments. But in fact, it does sounds like a nice echo/reverb)

About melodies: Yes it hepls, but only if musician who made the original knows if this sequence works or not. I really don't think he knows all this stuff about dominant subdominant and fifth (Well I don't know it for 100% either) so sometimes there can be mistakes. But in this case this sequence sounds quite logical to me.

DESTROY THOSE MAGGOTS!

Nice arrangement - I like the breakdown

me likey

Solid! The subtle echoes after the drop are really nice. Some tasty programming here for sure!

re: updating to newest LSDJ, there are some cool things, but be warned that all your P and L commands will be jacked haha. Also no more screaming sound when the WAV channel wraps from lowest pitch to highest hmm
