Large-Mouthed Horror

By Arcana on January 19, 2020 5:35 pm

An EEEEEVIL horror song. It has a large mouth! Maybe parts of it are organic robotic. WHO KNOWS

Performed this one live on hardware synths. Post-processing consisted of a little bit of compression and limiting but no other effects.

Production notes:

* Composed this using a C Locrian scale. I haven't really worked with this scale before. Most of the parts were done in the Deluge.
* A lot of cool modular sounds - the scary lead was the "vowel" generator from Plaits run through a Delay and a Spring Reverb as well as some distortion. The drums are Basimilus Iteritas Alter modulated slightly with a sequencer. Some effects were manually triggered with Tetrapad, especially a resonant filter.
* There wasn't much going on with the track from a composition perspective - I prepared 7 patterns of 4 bars and 3 additional patterns that were 1 bar long running at different lengths.

haha

This feels like it would go fantastic in a doom-like sidescroller
