Twilight Destruction

By Avrilcadabra on January 6, 2024 4:29 am

This track was written on the tracker Sid Factory II, It is called Twilight Destruction because all Sids end up in High Voltage Sid Collection and have to have a unique name. It is written for a 6581 Sid chip and recorded on a 6581r4ar c64c,  I added a touch of reverb to the signal path out of the c64 audio jacks, but if any purists want to hear it I'll make the sid file available, and a Deepsid link. Also if you want more insight into this there is a video to go with the track here https://youtu.be/RggeEmDUK18

It has been one of my life goals to write sid tracks for the HVSC and I am happy that I have finally got the workflow and tools and gear etc all worked out to do it.

Really dig this track. I love sid chiptunes. I need to pull out my old c64 and make something on it. Great work!

Super cool! Love the SID sound and the touch of verb is lush!

haha I knew you'd go straight C64 wink Great sounds, I love the (hard?)sync use.

Cheers!

Happy WB2024! this definitely hits the SID spot

great work! has the classic demoscene sound but with a dark modern twist. love the reverb!

really epic SID tune right here

Daaaamn, this is good! It feels sooo much like old school chiptune, The lead melody at around 1:30 is so simple but so pretty, too, especially as it morphs and changes shape until the end of the song. Phenomenal job!!!

Yeaaaahhh!!  This is epic :-)  SID goodness... with the perfect little verbs in here too.   I'll have to check out SID Factory II (never used it)  Looking forward to more SID radness for 2024!

right amount of crunch, love that lead melody!

This is very good. Interesting video, too.

This is truly epic.

Damn, nothing sounds quite like a SID―and very little SID music I've heard sounds this... natural, as a mix?  The hat in the riff + bass+ groove at ~1:20 riff is outstanding.

Wow! Makes me feel like I'm listening to a cracktro from back in the day! Love the percussion.

Good stuff! Some nice sound design here.

Thanks Legend, I like that it can compile to sid file easily and has ASID

Thanks, I think thats just because I grew up on 80's music, the hat is actually the last thing I added, so glad I did get the hat done.

Thanks Peter, lot of tweaking those drums, c64 drums are pretty hard I think.

Thanks , sound design the hardest part for me, when it comes to c64 trackers anyway.

Awesome! Absolutely love this! That lead tone is amazing. The last 30 seconds is my favourite section!

Faved!!!
