MMXXVI - III

This week brings back an old friend - the Alesis SR-16.

I was trialing Sonible's Smart:Comp 3 and figured recording drum hits from the SR-16 would be a bit of fun. Sure, the pattern isn't the most ambitious but I loved how quickly and easily smart comp worked. Normally for a kick I might use Supercharger or an 1176 based comp but SC3 worked a treat.

In a side by side SC3 had more oomph despite very similar settings to the T-Racks 1176. Might be a keeper.

even just that bass alone with the drums sounds absolutely massive heart really nice !

oomph, is the word of the day here. Really nice relentless feel to this ... could listen for a lot longer!

I always love me some slower paced sythwave that hammers in that mood

Thanks! The bass is made using one of my favourite new instruments from 2025, Adam Szabo's Airwave (JP-8000 clone). The usual suspects plugin is great as well, but Adam's is a little lighter on cpu. The SR-16 is a classic for a good reason - cheap and sounds great.

Yeah it might eventually become a longer track for sure. Something very cinematic.
