Automated Gay Space Communism

The future we deserve.

I was feeling like doing some kind of "elevator jazz" track this week, then sleepunit dropped this on discord, and I knew what I had to do:

if we lived in fully automated gay space communism ala star trek I feel like we'd all give much less of a shit because the implications would be entirely different. if we've all got our basic needs met without having to sell our creativity, then this becomes a much more interesting conversation about trying to define art. which is impossible and way more fun to talk through because of that.

It's got a dash of electric piano, a splash of cat gut bass (no animals were harmed on this holodeck), and a ton of me going ham on like a $20 glockenspiel xylophone my kids got me for my birthday a couple years ago. Lyrics are Star Trek quotes, of no particular generation.

Engage!

Came for the Automated Gay Space Communism stayed for the glockenspiel.

This is extremely unexpected weird and funny. My kind of bullshit. Great track.
Make it so.

I can totally see this on a TV show. Very creative, love it so much!

Started listening before I read the post - and from the first notes I was like, “Oooh, elevator music!” Then to see that in your description. Mission accomplished. I love everything about this track, huge smile on my face. Engage!

Thanks! I had a lot of fun with it! I always like to try and integrate little music things my kids get me when I can.

Hell yeah! Thanks!!! As my silliest track so far, I think it's become my favorite (don't tell my other tracks). I'm going to have to get even crazier this year.

If star trek was an edutainment, this would be the theme.

That reminds me that I want to make a fake commercial jingle at some point this year

Thanks! I was pleased how the extra "La" and "Do"s were going to turn out, but they sounded just cheesy enough when pitched/played along with the bass track

AGSC sounds pretty cute from this depiction NGL. Musically this sits somewhere between elevator jazz and mid '50s rock. There's a certain sensibility here that would fit a British band from that era playing the song. Even if they squirmed at the lyrics haha

Nitpick: woo, this shit is mixed loud! big_smile

I think with all the metallic pinging sounds, my brain didn't know how to mix this one. At least it's "evenly too loud"? :-)
