Violent New Pressures

By alonemusic on January 3, 2026 5:26 pm

Hello from me for 2026!
It is already looking like.. well.. another year of interesting times. I hope that through community and music we can at least shelter from the grey mist of the world.

2026 marks 10 years since my first weekly beats. I really can't believe that (I know some of you have been around much longer.. big_smile). Something clicked in me that said 'you really can't miss putting at least one track out to mark such an occasion'. So here we are...

Like last time, I really don't know how this is going to turn out, 2024 was meant to be a relaxing year, no outboard gear, just play.. and I managed 20+ tracks.. no artwork, just exploring notes and samples and the like.

This time, well, I've got many other projects going on, and work, so much work. With the other projects, I'm looking for ways to mix things up, or find links, so maybe that will become something.. maybe it won't.

Anyway, good luck out there folk, both with Weekly Beats and with your other endeavours heart

This track is a quick test of all my old an dusty equipment. the setup had been becoming caked in dust and cat hair under my bed since the beginning of 2023. Some batteries are failing, cables seem to crackle a bit more, but hey, things seem to be just about how I left them.

A quick note that the art was inspired by a Star Wars post by Matt Ferguson (https://www.instagram.com/p/DS-zOucgQne/) That I saw and for the life of me I couldn't draw a ship, so hey..

awww this is thick and velvety and comforting thank you for making it

Always with these BOPS and jams! You got that 65DaysOfStatic vibe and knock it out of the fucking park so much more. I always dig your tunes!!!

Love the build around 3 min. And the big 80s drums

Really like the guitars there.

Love the layers! Great energy. 10 years of WB insaaaane man. Looking forward to hearing everything you make this year

Happy 10th year! Been listening to a lot of the music on here and this one caught my eye, I loveing the vibes this track gives off

Great stuff! Huge reaching 10 years! to many more!

great beat and groove on everything! Drums are by hand or samples (the ones before 80s drums at 3min)? Sounds very cool! Love the energy, almost harkens back to one of the uplifting tracks from the game Outer Wilds (one of my favs ever).

whoa totally new heights reached after 3:30, love it!

Oh man, welcome back. It's so good to hear your stuff again. I'd say it definitely works.

The first two minutes of this have the melancholy sweetness I associate with toe and Porter Robinson, with its buzzy pulse lead, plucks, and expressive snare rolls. But then it opens up in the last three, tom fills and acid lines and chip arps building to something grandiose, a final bittersweet adventure. Nice work!

A pretty emotional anthem to start the year with! Chiptune shoegaze? SIGN ME UP.

The way this moves in so many different ways throughout the buildup speaks to your experience. Nice work! Great sounds from start to finish.

65 days have been one of my favourite bands for years, I remember seeing them just playing loud guitars over a minidisc on stage. I hope they come back soon.

If in doubt, a few toms are never unwelcome.

Well.. I did miss 2020 entirely.. and 2024 was about 50% ish but it always feels like coming home regardless, thank you so much for keeping the fires buring with the podcast, it helped me remember why I love this place.

You too! I can't wait to hear your mad jams! The drums are programmed in from Circles samples, I try to never use pre-recorded loops as I want to understand the patterns. and glad there is another Outer Wilds fan, what a game (and soundtrack)

Thank you so much heart My goal this year is to not rely on huge builds and extravagant layering, but for week 1 (and 2) why not have a little treat.

oh wow, reaching the hill of a story arc track.
We struggle some, but we got this-vibes!
oooh shiiii, No, we own this! (3:40)
So much building, epicness.

Daft Punk contact vibes!

Ooof love the rhythm from the start.  Lovely chords that progress and feel like an epic story is unfolding.  Dang those guitars at 1:55ish \m/ hell yais love how they sound.  Drums sound so good too.  Nice tom fill to open up the new section.  Powerful track!

I still need to finish that other one. Maybe also figure one out for '24. I remember the first one being pretty neat.

hohohohoho it's like a wave washing over me. Love the range of instrumentation, and wow every sections hits amazingly well. great proggy track heart heart

happy decade of music! & happy new year!
