They Give You Air

It almost feels like this track is a comeback after a week off, as I got last weeks track done super early as I was out traveling. It's also probably the most 'pop' I've been this year.

The first few chords were done last sunday as I was messing with some guitar tones, and I got into a big 'huh this sounds like Slowdive, lets make shoegaze' I also have found myself really getting into (don't laugh) Phil Collins. Nasty man, good tunes. I like that they are very much about something...

I then got a bit stuck into the loops, I hope it sounds like it hangs together rather than just variation. It even had words for a bit! But I went out last night to a loud pub so can barely sing and also only had lyrics for the end part. Whatever, I've always liked trying to make instrumental music where you can kinda hear it as a song, but infer the words yourself.

The broad theme is this is a love song found while digging up an old research station. Why not? I don't write many love songs.

Art:

A lot of space in this mix, giving a very nice sense of scale. I like the feeling of hope and light.
Cool art for this track, and I especially like the look of the jacket being worn out. smile

Melody and the following around the 1:40 mark are joyous. Wonderful stuff as always!

I love the art cover.

Track is very good also. Really like the choices of instruments. sounds fresh.

Very sweeping and huge-sounding! Lots of cool themes and riffs going on throughout. You've convinced me I need more instrumental shoegaze in my life, but only if it's this calibre.

It is very fitting then that I love this song.
Also your art has black text on black background, usually a no-no in graphics design. Usually.

THank you! The art was very last minute. When in doubt.. rip off Hitchcock.

heart And yes.. the secrets are in the margins...

Nice dreamy faux-eighties synth pop. I liked the variety, I liked the instrumentation. Everything worked very well here. The only thing I kinda wished for was for the drums to be freed from their crunchy lofi treatment after the intro. Everything else is so sparkly, neon and glassy. The drums felt like from a different world despite the kit beneath being absolutely period-correct. But that's a nitpick!

I'm catching up on older tracks and just came across this. This is so freaking good! I didn't know how much I needed chipgaze. Instant favorite heart
