Bitter Lake

This week I treated myself to a new synth, after watching lots of videos, and my workmate showing me Absynth, I couldn't resist.

I also wanted to try and write something a bit out of my wheelhouse, so inspired by HEALTH and my old favourite NIN, thought I'd try a bit of the ol' industrial metal.

Very fun, its all drop C# and the chugging on open strings is all there. Absynth through distortion makes up much of the rest, with the NES and Game Boy providing a bit more texture and keep me somewhat grounded in what I like.

Mixing heavy guitars tho? hard! I also went back and did a slighty shorter version as on re-listening it felt a bit saggy. Anyway.. Enjoy x
Edit: I shortened it again! I also had feedback that I used Goldeneye-esque noises. I didn't mean to do this, but I'm very here for 1997 N64 vibes.

This hits hard, really like the industrial vibes.

The guitars and synths combine nicely.  Cool textures abound.

Yes, heavy guitars are pretty tough, but they're mostly there for ambiance really.

The synthy chimes cut through really nicely over the guitars. I see the NIN influence, but also reminds me of Mogwai smile .

I love the metal aspect of it along with every other part of it, this song is great!

The music video for this need to be shot in 2002 in an abandoned, rust-color-graded factory. Love how this plays fair with both the metal and the electronic side, from the heavy chugs and double-kick breakdown to the crunchy snare and gothic meandering synth leads. Nice work!

Nicely done!

Absolutely. Lots of spikey gelled hair, bad CGI and safety moshing. Thank you!

Always a compliment to get compared to Mogwai, I'm a huge fan!
