Second Lap

Time for another round!

I participated in 2018 with Gameboy + LSDJ and—I surprised myself—made it through the full 52 weeks. It taught me a lot about LSDJ, got me playing some gigs and travel, and it was a wonderfully good experience.

That same year came with another milestone though: I became a father, and two years later for a second time. These two little lovely attention seekers took time away from music making (and I happily let them ♥), but now it's 2026 and I'm keen to get back into the game!

So, here I am again, this time armed with a Dirtywave M8 along with the Gameboys. Who knows what the year will bring!

Good luck to everyone participating this year smile Don't forget to breathe and enjoy the process wink

groovy start to the year! welcome back!

excellent start indeed! Glad to see you back.

This track is an absolute banger! Loving the classic LSDJ tracker/keygen vibes

Cheers for a productive 2026

4ntler on a M8. This is gonna be a good year for music!

Thanks, thanks! Still finding my way around stuff on the M8, but loving it so far.

Got so much more sound design opportunities now smile

Planning on doing some LSDJ too this year, and maybe even some logic/bitwig vgm stuff. Who knows what the year will bring!

groovy asf! heart I hope the kids love this too

Remind me again, how long ago did you receive your M8? You shouldn't be able to make such funky bangers so soon. Leave some talent for us plebs!

Zonder dollen, super om je weer erbij te hebben! gonna be a great year.

Ahw, that's so sweet of you to say! They do actually, they think I make the best music, haha. Little do they know ':)

My M8 hasn't arrived yet, this weeks track is just in the box ableton.
2026 gaat echt weer een mijlpaal jaar worden hoor, ik voorspel het je!

I'm on my 4th lap so far!

Great track wink

Groovy! Love those pitch slides.

Short but filled out with good stuff!

Congrats on the fatherhood, this is a great journey! (Not easy, but worth it!)

Congrats on da baby!!! Great track as well, really fun energy! You seem really good at crafting catchy melodies

Yeah, love every minute! Saw your track with your kid, I think it's so great how you're involving them in the music making smile The other day my eldest asked me "how the m8 works", I'm gonna show her this week.

Thanks, means a lot! They usually come naturally to me, and then I spend a ton of time on sound design, haha.

such a quirky and cute little tune! i liked it a lot! great work!

Lovin the melodies and energetic feels with the drums that spring into lift off from the beginning.  Lets go!

Hoping for many more Laps! Great tune smile

Reminds me of all the great keygen and mod music that got me into chiptunes in the first place

this is so smooth love it!!

Amazing! Love the funky vibes here - I'm bopping right along to this.  Melody written well - all the notes feel very well placed.  Interesting, I wouldn't have picked this as a M8 at it's source... you've done some lovely sound design here.  Quite a bit of FM too?

Thanks! I ended up spending quite some time on the drums on the last day, fitting them to accents in the melody to tie it all together.

Thanks! I always enjoyed those too as a kid. Always found it weird other people would just skip them as quick as they could.

Hey, thanks! Means a lot, especially because I feel that's a bit of a weak spot for me, and I was still drowning in the M8 synth capabilities.

Quite a lot of it is FM, yeah. The leads, bass and some of the arps. The "guitar" you hear at the start is the hypersyn, which was a lucky find, but with those six individual "strings" you can simulate it pretty well actually.

Always happy to share bundles on the M8 black market.

Diggin it

This sounds effortless.

I love this lead. It's so playful. This song is begging to be revisited for a longer sequence. You can squeak 3 minutes or more out of this concept.

Haha, certainly wasn't! Through week 2 took more effort

That's a great compliment! Thanks smile

In 2018 I usually put in tracks of around 2–3 minutes, but I'm feeling this time around I'm focusing my effort more into that one minute I think.

Welcome back, grats on the kiddos, and what a great chippy jam to return with!!

Welcome back!! Great to see you again, congrats on the little ones heart Very infectious tune, love those sliding melodies!
