SONAR

Holy crap, I uploaded this in the last 20 seconds. Had to go back and edit to add the video.

This was an insane rush. I think I worked on the song and video for a total of about 2 hours up until 20 seconds before the deadline.

Let me know what y'all think! I hope my speedtrash worked out!

He shoots, he scores! yikes  This feels like the beat is coming to life realizing how much time is left. Love when it goes full jungle break.  Gave me some squarepusher vibes midway too. Well done!

There are some good sounds in this, and I like the Photek-ish vibe of it. But if I can be blunt...?

I don't think this speedtrash worked out as a track. Not for me anyway. And it is mostly because the acid part plops in out of nowhere. And then it suddenly stops shortly after in an unsatisfying way. I understand the impetus to want it. And if you had time to fully develop it and make it grow it could become awesome. But the way it is now, I think it detracts from the piece as a whole.

Part of speedtrashing is also learning what ideas are going to work in the time available. And where to apply your focus. Anyway, that's how I think about it. So feel free to totally disregard what I said.

Thank you so much! The squarepusher comment is a huge compliment to me, as he is one of my favourite artists and inspirations of all time.

Thank you for the comment/criticism. This week was not the best, so this one ended up as the speediest trash... Alas, no excuses I guess. Everyone has a hard life and everyone has 7 days in a week. I'll try my best to get the time/energy to make a better and more developed track this week.

This ain't speedtrash, this is classic dnb down to its roots, complete with the acid break which is 100% true to the spirit of this genre. This track breathes with that same life and spontaneity and surprise of some of those first tracks that came to life sometimes in the midst of a dj set. It's great, and it demonstrates that you know the music you wanna make.

I think in some ways the m8 is an incredibly apropos choice for dnb simply because of the similarities in limitations and workflow... and full disclosure, holy shit this track in 2 hours AND a video? I couldn't even execute on the video alone. I've made literally hundreds of tracks on the m8 and I would be hard pressed to knock this out in two hours. Be proud of that skill!

And last - all music is born out of, and exists within, a complex musical social historical context, and we have to understand that context to understand the music, and I think you do understand it very well here - but not everyone listening will, especially in the spotify era where context has been tossed out the window. Keep doing what you're doing and don't doubt yourself. You understand the context of dnb and you are working your own space within it heart

amazing work, even more amazing in 2 hours. LET THE SPEED TREASURE FLOW!!!

hell yeah! i can feel the urgency in the track, and i think it really creates a mood. feel like i'm running through the woods, maybe away from something, maybe towards somethings, maybe both. heart

Aaaah, heard this one on euromeet, liked it a lot and was bummed out that I didn't catch the artist's name. So it was you. Great work! Very solid drum breaks and a great atmosphere. I would never have guessed that this would have the tag 'speedtrash'. It doesn't do it justice smile.

Ahhh this is siiiiick.

Phew! Good effort getting past the finish line.
