goodbye, track

By zirafa on April 3, 2022 11:16 pm

This track started with some noodling on a nashville tuned guitar, which resulted in 3 circular type riffs. I wanted to add vocals but wasn't feeling that inspired so instead added some synths. This was one of those cases where I liked individual parts of what I was doing but couldn't get the whole thing to mesh properly. Oh well - goodbye, track...

please tell me everything about the drum recording.  your drum recordings are getting better and better.  is this the soapbox kit at soapbox?  What mics and where?  pwease. smile

nashville tuning is so awesome but I feel like I need to buy a whole new guitar cause i want regular accessible.  love the slight detune of the synth.

super well done!

I like that start/stop thing you’ve got going on. Drums sound very natural and well balanced. Nice!

I love that melody. I really like the mixture of sounds in this one. I think the different parts work well together

just really nice vibes here.  i think the my fav element is the wobbly tuned phrase first around 30s in, especially in contrast to the tighter/pluckier themes.

didn't expect this smile good vibes, love the retro sound

Thanks, yeah this is the kit at Soapbox -- but it's not my old Premiere, it's a member's Ludwig kit. They do a great job of changing the heads often and tuning it. Something I dig is the single ply "vintage-coated" remo heads that are on there. Has a lot of character. I don't remember how I recorded this, but probably omni overhead, kick/subkick, and snare.

Yeah I wish there was like a "quick-swap" guitar that could change between regular & Nashville tuning on the fly. Nashville has such a great sparkle but sometimes feels a little thin
