this track is my submission for a competition on the renoise forum and was written entirely over the course of a few days this past week. The constraints of the comp are that all samples must be able to fit on a 1.4MB floppy disk, so it's a small file using lots of short samples with creative use of fx to extend them.

forest darkpsy @ 144 bpm in renoise using all native dsp

hope you enjoy :]]]]]

Thanks!

Dope as always. Thanks for the link - can't wait to check out some of your sorcery!

Psy-trance is usually not my genre, but this caught me off guard and I'm so impressed by how you managed to make a melody out of these samples. Sounds like a fun challenge!

Occasionally. It used to be my main DAW. Now I use it a few times a year.

I was using Reaper as my main DAW for almost 15 years and just in the last few months I started using Ableton. Reaper I haven't cracked open since then. I still like Renoise a lot, but I haven't kept up with features in the most recent versions, and have lost my chops with the shortcuts.

Seems like Ableton is arguably the most capable DAW out there for electronic music production. MAX for live, great native dsp, etc. I've just never vibed with it for some reason when I've tried it. Reaper I've used for compositing audio professionally, but never as a music production platform, although I feel some draw towards exploring it. Renoise is just so much fun for me. I appreciate all the limitations and figuring out ways of working around them. I feel like it makes me more creative. I do wish the development cycle was faster though.

Anyway, it's all about the music!

cheers
