Volver a extrañarnos

A love song that talks about how routine can drive people apart and cool passion.

I made this song using a chord progression and rhythm that I created a thousand years ago and never dared to develop.
The lead guitar that accompanies the whole song is played fingerstyle.

I had planned to add a string section right after the second chorus and to have worked more on the details but there was no time for more. However, this week I've been busier with other things so I'm not complaining about what I've been able to do in a few hours.
I'm happy with the guitar arrangements on the choruses in terms of melody but not in terms of effects and production.

Constructive criticism is welcome!

Lyrics:

Viajando entre castillos para reformar
Aprendiendo a armar paredes

No quiero asustarte, solo vine a intentar

No quiero asustarte, solo vine a intentar
Que volvamos a extrañarnos

Love the chord progression, and the guitar sound with springy echo. The bass line adds a lot to this, particularly during the solo. cc: maybe a little less compression on the drums

You did something with that progression!  It’s gorgeous and way better than what I probably would have come up with. Haha. Bass line is great.

Muy bonita! Hiciste una hermosa canción.

It went out of control haha (still no idea about compression), however, I tried different types/levels of compression and this was I like the most. Thanks for your feedback!

Thanks my friend!

Muchas gracias por tu comentario!

Cool chill vibe. Totally see myself reclining in a bar sipping whiskey, puffing a cigarillo, and mulling over life's mysteries.

Very nice track, I really like those guitars. Very peaceful vocal delivery as well.

I quite like how you hear the snares on the low pitched snare drum. About blighters_rock comment, you can get away with LOTS of compression, but if you do, maybe go "parallel" (mix not set to 100%) so you don't suck the attack or you can just select a slower attack on your compressor settings.

Wow, it's always nice to find that the music you make yourself awakens feelings or influences thoughts in the people who listen to it. Thanks for commenting!

The problem is that my compression knowledge is nil, as well as my mixing and mastering knowledge haha, but there I go learning. I'm going to put these tips into practice to learn more, thank you very much for the tip. Another thing I noticed is that the mix sounded more or less to my taste on my studio speakers (they are cheap, not great... but I think they are decent) and then on other media (headphones, or computer speakers for example) everything sounds darker than I intended, especially the drums... anyway.... that's what WB is for, to learn!

I hear a distorted guitar, but it's pretty quiet, which is weird for one.
