No me puedes dejar solo

By Zatelite on February 4, 2024 5:54 am

When I was about 6-7 years old, my father gave me a small Yamaha electric piano. I had a great appreciation for that piano and kept it until adulthood. When my children were young, I would not allow them to use the piano without me being present. One day, my youngest son who was about 4 years old at the time, was with me in my studio and I said "Pepe, don't play my piano without me being here, I'll be back in a few minutes" and I left the studio. Without his knowledge, I recorded him with my cell phone to see what he was doing. Obviously, like any other 4 year old kid, he grabbed the piano and started playing. To my surprise, even though he was playing nonsense notes, he managed to improvise a vocal melody with the phrase "No me puedes dejar solo" (you can't leave me alone).
That's how this song was born. Some passages of the lyrics allude to the crazy stories my son used to make up when he was little.
You can listen that record of my son singing at the end of the song smile

Damn, my dude! You're making it look easy. This is so good. Love the chord progressions, great job on the melodies (you and your son), and also really nice production choices with the harmonies, and the spicy little licks at the end of verses and such. The solo fits so perfectly.

The on constructive comment I have is that maybe the bridge vocals should be treated differently (maybe some distortion or something?) to differentiate that part a little bit.

Love it!

Dude, this is amazing. So much fun! The harmonies, rhythms, kick ass solo, it’s all great. This one made me smile a lot!

Awesome punky track! Kinda reminds me of something inspired by The Pillows - fun lyrics, and funny background story!

These punk rock tracks of yours are pretty rad. Really strong hooks and solid verses keep me interested throughout and then I'm pleasantly surprised by the little change ups like that bridge section towards the end. And the outro itself is really cool and unique!

Rock yeah. Fun story that comes with the track. Love the harmonized electric guitar solo.

Super cool that your kid is part of the track!

Just goes to show what happens when you leave a kid and a piano in the same room.

This is so heartwarming and fun, omg!!! LOVELY, just absolutely lovely. The story behind the tune is amazing. I hope your son comes back to this when he's in his 30 or 40s and that it brings a smile to his face. I know it brought one to mine smile Great job!

Really great song, love the backstory! Some really fun melody in the chorus too. Very cool.

Thanks! I agree, that middle part should have something that makes it different but I couldn't came up with something good enough and time was gone haha, thanks for your comment!

I hadn't heard "The Pillows" before, when I read your comment I went to look them up and now I can't stop listening to them haha, they are really good. Thanks for your comment and for bringing me closer to the music of this "new" (to me) band.

Thanks! Yeah, I had to include my son somehow in the track, he created the "leitmotiv" of the song haha.
