Prime Directive

Tried another neuro-ish track with lots of weird bass sounds haha. I layered 4 operators in Ableton to make the original squanchy bass (from a tutorial, still learning sound design) with some pitch mods and such and then added Rift 2.0 (filter, distortion, feedback) and resampled 4 new basses. Chopped and arranged the basses with some more compression and processing afterwards, mainly Fabfilter Pro-MB and Pro-Q 3. Just a wee bit of Sausage Fattener. Using sidechain to make space for the kick and snare on the basses with Tracksapcer 2. Chopped up a few acapella samples and played MPC style on the MPD232. Some more layered foley sounds to help beef up the snare. Glue compression, Ableton's drum bus, and saturation on the drum bus.

My goal was to try something new and learn some new techniques and I'm pretty happy with the results even if I don't think the track is all that great. My goal for next week is to bust out a straight hip hop bop and throw some rhymes on top.

I'll be hiking at a waterfall tomorrow with my family and actually looking forward to not having the chance to tweak the track all day like I usually do on submission day haha. Anyways, thanks for listening and, as usual, open to any critiques or criticisms.

Absolutely—all that synthesis+sampling+chopping+processing paid off.  Especially dig the growl morphing into a little mini groove against the beat at 1:19

Still digging it.  No idea why this only got two comments, the bass is great

mind blown by everything you are doing

the vocal sample secretly underneath stuff is insanely tight
