Another NDLR Jam, new setup this week I tested out on a Twitch stream.
I wanted to take an edit from the stream but it was a bit hard to find a good 2-4min in the almost 2h stream, so I ended up re-doing quite a few takes and getting a bit frustrated. As a result, I don't like it so much... but enjoy! hahaha.

NDLR sequencer
1010 BlueBox -> Strymon Deco -> Elektron Heat MK1
Korg Volca FM2
Korg NTS-1 -> CB GenLoss MK2
AudioThingies MicroMonsta 2
Elektron Syntakt
CB Mood

Ozone 9 Mastering

You got quite a bit of fun toys.

That snare cuts!

Like the sound palette, especially the arpeggios and more airy pads on top.

I'm really enjoying the atmosphere between the long tail of the 808, the hats that sit quite well in the space in between and the distorted pad. It really creates a nice wave like feeling. This is personal but I would like some more variation on the snare, maybe some sort of changing delay, some random lfo on the release, idk. The synth in the melody is quite nice, the melody itself is nice sometimes but I would say to me it's the weakest spot of the first 2 minutes. It feels like it doesn't exactly know where to go, maybe a little bit more variation in the length of the notes, maybe a touch more research on its relationship with the chords. really like the entrance of the drums at 2'20'' or so. And the arpeggio sounds to me more pleasing than the original melody, though the problem I was talking about now switches to the new main synth. Also maybe a touch less distortion and two db less loud..? Overall I'm really enjoying this track, it's quite nice with some I think really good moments. Keep goiiiiing I really want to see how your process evolves. Also, can I find your twitch account here? I'm not managing to find you on twitch hmm

Hey thanks for the detailed feedback! I almost don't dare listen to it again haha XD

Good call on the snare, it's probably the only Syntakt item that wasn't automated at all yikes

As for melodies... eh it's just me improvising 100% so there wasn't anything planned at all, which I guess ended up showing... also I had been jamming on this for 2h so I guess I should've switched up things a bit but, deadlines deadlines wink I like the tip on chord relationships, playing with chords is quite new to me since I usually do monotonal music, but the NDLR makes it easy and interesting to explore, I think I should spend some time staying longer in a given chord and developing more muscle memory there.

I mastered the thing in ozone 9 (forgot to write it) so the loudness should be set at -14 LUFS, but yeah there's a lot of tape saturation going on, perhaps a bit too much wink

Thanks a lot for dropping by and sharing your comments! I really appreciate it. My twitch channel is at https://www.twitch.tv/xc3n - I just got started so I might not be online that much + I don't always do music streams, but feel free to come by!
