Let's Ride Again

By XC3N on January 24, 2026 9:46 am

Yep... I've said it before and I'll say it again... life moves pretty fast... if you don't stop and look once around in a while, you'll slam head first into a wall x_X

Time waits for no one and thus this is a bit of a rushed submission. Still exploring vocals and guitar, tried to make the drum a bit more complex, the bass a bit less repetitive... and well, the vocal and guitar elements are one more step on the road to acceptance wink

Ah! I lifted part of the riff from a very obscure source, I'll be really impressed if anyone can identify it haha

Yeah, definitely like the feel here. The guitar against the clean crispy percussion is a great contrast. Really like the guitar tone, and I like how the guitar line doubles the vocal melody. And that riff on the fade-out! Awesome.

Very cool!

Je crois que les vocals sont encore mieux rendu que la semaine dernière. L'harmonisation des guits a la fin c'est super efficace.

Rock!

J'aime ces experimentations avec guitare et chant. Des bons riffs dans ce track!

Awesome sound all over and I love where your vocals are going. The solo section around 2 mins really sings out (having original The Crow moments here). If you take this further, try separating the vocal verses from the guitar solos - they are really competing here, but I can imagine how awesome this could sound if you sang a verse with just the bass and percussion etc... and then the guitar answered you in kind. Very envious of your guitar playing, really brings the whole mood to the track!

Great job!

big props on continuing, levelling up and keeping the direction. I really like the style you've picked.

Waiting for next entries, I know I'm gonna enjoy them big_smile

Oooh very cool. Lyrics are hard.
Great guitar tone!

such a tight groove throughout. guitars sound great and also feeling the crow vibes like neon liminal mentioned.  Well done!

I'm torn between whether these drums fit or not. On the one hand, they trounce the guitar a lot, on the other, that might be the point.

That kind of relentless "solid" bass (no, I don't mean the FM Chicago house staple) reminds me a lot of Massive Attack's "Angel". Curious to see where the track could go with a dirtier version of the same drums, though I feel you completely on the "rushed" bit... I almost wasted 4 days looking for a drum loop without a single bar of structure.

Extra respect for managing vocals and the extra work of writing and singing on top of the whole music making.

what a vibe, love the vocals and the guitar. not sounding like a rushed submission at all to me, good job! smile

Major (minor) mood piece!  The guitar sounds great throughout (that solo rules), and the timbre of your voice really suits this particular track.  The hihats remind me of when I was young and my dad would record demo tracks using a 606 as his drumkit/metronome

killer

but don't do this if you want to ride in that fancy car again

heart

I swore I commented on this last week, but I'm back again! Dig the vocals, great work

Thanks! The tone is pretty much my first attempt to build something with the pedals I have on hand, I'm happy it works for you!
The vocal melody was lifted from an old video game haha, see the video at the bottom, the fade out riff was heavily inspired from a local 90s Goth Rock band, too hehehe ... something something picasso said

Yes merci!

As I've told you in private, thank you so much for your perspective on this track... I felt things were competing and I simply didn't really think about how to spread it over with less overlap, and how much more interesting and contraster that would feel. I don't understand why you'd be envious of my basic guitar playing hahaha but I'll take it wink

Tysm! I hope I am not disappointing haha, February will have to go somewhere else since I am quite busy with life stuff and I have an ambient live set to perform at the end of the month yikes but I will come back to this as it's definitely something I want to explore more

Thanks a lot! I'm surprised about the tone, you seem to know a lot about it haha I'm just randomly doing stuff.... eh, as long as it works! Ah! Also found out you're also in Montreal, cool!

A special thank to you, this is the kind of feedback I love to get because it forces me to listen through a different lense... I had not thought much about the drums at all, just kind of set and forget... listening after your comment I noticed how much the kick is prominent and how little it serves the track being that way... this is not techno XD

Thanks for the feedback! I kinda decided to drop that 606 plugin for the future tracks in that style and swap for the TR-8S instead... probably will experiment with that more next month!

Hey thanks for the super nice comments, I really appreciate it! The drum is a 606 emulation plugin haha, so you were 100% right!

Lol I did the opposite, I almost commented twice on a track... funny too my second comment was much more interesting than the first, but I ended up not posting it (can't remember who's track it was) Thanks man!
