Oscope bug

By xavier marques on March 10, 2024 11:55 pm

Busy week but didn't want to miss a WB so grabbed an old sketch and worked on it for this last couple of hours before the deadline.

Feel like there's a lot of room for improvement but had no time left.
Will probably revisit and work a bit more on the sound design and have another section with a breakdown to bring the energy go down.

The original idea came from testing hypersynth back when it was still in beta and I found a bug with the oscilloscope that made the M8 crash. Eventually, the bug was fixed and I was left with the sound from the intro, which is 3 hypersynth's layered and rendered to a stereo sample.

All done on M8 with some post-processing in Ableton.

I love this, minimal electronic almost, but with plenty of stuff happening still. A canvas of sound with a great texture.

Texture is what I was going for, glad it came through! Thanks for the feedback.

wow, loving that ambient choral sound

this is very triumphant.  the surprise chord changes are excellent.

this should be the trailer music for the announcement of FEZ 2

I definitely did, it's fun playing guitar with this and I'm sure someone else can put their spin on it.

Love the sustained build then the chord changes hit and bam, really takes you places! Definitely revisit this one, it stands on its own but I can hear so many possibilities to take it further

If Beyond the Black Rainbow was a happy film, this would be on its soundtrack. I love how ethereal it is, the great key changes, the switch up at 2:35...it feels revelatory.

Simply wonderful. Sounds finished to me!

Big FEZ fan, so I take this compliment very dearly! Thank you!

Thank you! I also feel like it can go so many different ways... Like Devieus mentioned, it might be fun to add some guitars and that may lead to some happy accidents!
