O outro lado do espelho

By xavier marques on August 4, 2024 11:11 pm

Last week I shot a short film. It portrays a broken relationship between a man and a woman and how routine their life has become. It shows how they heal themselves through "art therapy" where they undergo a bizarre experience with a street performer.

This week I've been doing the soundtrack. This is the first version of it.

Love the ovenrack textures there!

Very nice track.

An oven rack!? Haha love how creative that is. What inspired you to use it? This is an AWESOME soundtrack! Very very suspenseful, you did a great job capturing tension with this sort of haunting, melancholic undertone. Excellent work!

I'm also digging the glitchy track bed, the lead elements sit nicely on top of it.

I like the mystique of the guitar in there.

Sounds (literally!) like an interesting concept. The atmosphere in this track feels wonderfully unsettled. Kind of reminiscent at times of the feeling I get from Metroid music, but with an extra helping of gorgeous acoustic guitar licks. big_smile

awesome soundtrack! So effing cool the oven rack!

One of the characters' personality is very dry and cold and I think the sound of metal suits him. Because I'm running against the clock, I had to improvise with what I had at hand that was metalic and that could resonate. The oven rack proved to be full of different sounds that I could then mangle and process to create these eerie soundscapes. This, with a subtle synth line running behind it, created lots of tension.

Thanks! I think I overdid it a bit with the glitchiness. I had to tone it down to fit in the scene.

Thank you! I recorded that guitar for a different project but it never got used. I kind of used it here as a placeholder but I'm getting too attached to it that it might end up staying.

Thanks! It sure was fun sampling and mangling it! I've got a lot more sounds to use throughout the movie!
