"Eclusas" - Canal lock
Hi!
This week I got to go visit the canal lock and got the chance to record the floodgate.
It's a massive metal structure that screeches while its opening and closing.
I got some crazy sounds out of it but they all tended to be rather low in frequency so I struggled to get something that wasn't very muddy. I only used sounds captured that day and a couple of sounds from last week's session for the risers on the transitions. I felt the need to process the sounds a bit more than usual so there's some granular and wavetable magic going on to get those leads, pads and arpeggios happening.
At the end of the song you can hear the unprocessed sound of the floodgate.
Anyways, it was good fun capturing these and feeling the structure vibrating while screeching added an extra dimension to the sound.
Thanks for listening!
P.S. it sounds massive if you have a sub as there's a big bump around 45Hz.
