kigen

By Wisefire on February 25, 2018 3:25 am

in keeping with the theme of naming every track in japanese, I chose the word kigen - Which translates to origin, mood, deadline or era. All of them fit. My origin is Schagen, where I had a phase (or a personal era) where I was a gabber with a lot of moods, usually bad. And 'deadline'. Well, thats self-evident with this weeklybeats thing.

To be fair the track should be called "ik kom uit Schagen, kut" which translates to "i come from 'Schagen', ya c*nt"

One of my former co-workers used to jokingly yell that phrase at me whenever I talked about my former life in Schagen. I always followed that up with a smile and tell him, that one day, i'll make a track out of that phrase.

He left the company to pursue his dream. But one night I received an audio message with him saying this exact phrase. So now it's my turn to fulfill that promise.

Daniel, this one's for you!

And i couldn't help myself, this one, again, has a chiptune lead coming in. i'm sorry. it's a compulsion. I wonder if there are chiplead rehabs. Maybe someone should stage a Chiptune intervention big_smile

I would also like to thank Claxon for helping me get the mix right and additional feedback.

Any and all comments are welcome! hate it? love it? feel indifferent about it? let me know!

Loving the nostalgia from some of these synth patches, proper oldskool! heart

This is the stuff

oi, this is fat heart Nice running piano melody too, I always love when I hear that in this kind of music, ever since the legendary Eurodancer by the great DJ Mangoo. Good job balancing this mix, it sounds like a tough one to get right. Very nice work heart

Thanx man, it was slightly tricky to get the mix sitting well, luckily i had some help in that department smile still missing some sub though. i don't have a subwoofer except for in my car, so that's quite difficult to mix in big_smile

The stabs. heart This track had me smiling the whole time.

This track has a nice evolution.  I like the arpeggiated synths that come in a little before the halfway point and then the sort of old school video game feel is cool, too.

Classic stuff!

Haha, totally not my genre, but this was fun to listen to (and read about your past), kut
