golden spaghetti (1.session)

By Wilcox Raw-Cats on January 7, 2024 7:40 pm

this is my track on policarbonate, recorded onto a wilcox-gay recordio recordcutter. It runs a little too fast and has a wild scratch by accident. I took this recording, because it is my first try and I declare the clicks as a kind of rhythm. Will I get evident sounding results in the future? I hope I will have a good learning curve until december. But limits are a 500-5000HZ range, the motornoise, static issues and a technique about 80 years old.
At the moment I am experimenting with the temperature, liquids like gazoline, turtlewax, ect, the weight, the speed, the RIAA curve, the loudness, the tubes, the compressor and the mastering before and after.
I like this song a lot, pure and in a hurry somehow.
the normal 08.15 Mix is here: https://weeklybeats.com/q-rosh

the process seems to be dangerous, dont start a fire men! love the track and the results of your experimentation! keep going!

Weird stuff, keep it comping!

What a wonderful experiment. The sounds you're getting out of this are really both nostalgic, organic, full of personality, out of control. I wish there was an accompanying video, I am very curious to see how this looks like.

really love the process, it sounds very cool. looking forward to more!

Checked out both versions, this is very interesting. Big fan of early Bibio and love this sound quality. Look forward to hearing more of your stuff!

Really interesting process and I'm always a fan of older recordings that have that nostalgic feel just from the tonal quality alone.  This mix kind of gives me visions of this playing on the Voyager Spacecraft drifting thru space.  smile

Woah! This sounds totally different than the regular mix, poppy and sparkly, I hear more separation between some parts, where other parts sound more compressed and cohesive. It creates a feeling of a foreground and background. This version also seemes to focus my hears and attention in one spot, like I'm looking through a telescope or binoculars, where the other version is more like a wide angle lens. Really cool.

not hears :-D

I'm a twisted sort of way, this is kinda cozy.

i'm still blown away by your other track so it's cool to hear some of the source material, this is so dope!
