Nightride

I had to use one of my weekly cheats this week. I had a super busy week, but mostly in a fun way. Work is always busy, but I also had one of my daughter's birthday party, which was a fun chaos with lots of kids from her class. We also had family from Italy over for the event, so the week just turned out a bit different than normal. Then another birthday in the family on Saturday.

I did start working on something (combining sounds from OPL Studio and the Volca FM2 so far), but haven't really had the chance to get further than an initial idea. I had in mind that I would do a kind of sprint today, but I guess I am just a bit too tired for that.

So here's a track I've started working on longer ago. I really like it so far myself, but it needs more work. I hope to develop it into a proper full track some day. It uses some chopped breakbeat samples and all other sounds are synths on the Dirtywave M8. The kind of sad pad that comes in later is basically the plucked model of macrosyn drowned in reverb and other FX. It was a kind of happy accident.

I also didn't get to listen to a lot of weekly beats this week and I didn't comment much. I hope to listen to more this week. smile

Always happy to receive feedback!

DUDE you cooked so freaking hard this week! This is amazing! Instant favorite

Great wobble bass and space in the leads, great track!

Bass is AMAZING. Love how it evolves into those lush pads, and then takes us back to the beginning. Awesome.

Awesome dream and bass song, glad we got to hear something fire from the secret folder.

That transition at 0m47s is sweet! I like the overall vibe of this track. It's nicely dark. In terms of feedback, I think the drum breaks could perhaps be a little bit more adventurous. A bit more wild, or slightly more aggressive would be another way of putting it. Not talking about the sounds, but really the underlying patterns.

The bass is big and wide. But it also pretty much remains throughout the tune so far. And I do find it grows stale after a while. As this is a work in progress of sorts I won't complain about the fade out, rather than a proper ending for the track. wink

This is all my opinion, of course. So do with it what you will. But I like what you've got so far!

This rules!   Great atmosphere backing up the breaks and bass.   Family from Italy, you say?   Great to meet another paisano!   I have so many relatives in Italy I can travel there and never need to stay in a hotel.

This one is dirty in the best of ways. It's got a great live feel to the drums and that bass is huge. Your songwriting and melodic progression is great. Definitely keep working on this one. There are places for the mix to be more balanced but you have the origins of something with longevity here.

Love the sound of that deep bass with the slick drum groove.  The rides on the drums sound so good too.  Awesome work!

Tasty breakbeats and really nice sound design. Good stuff!

Thank you! To be fair, most of it was not done last week wink.

Thanks a lot for the feedback! You mention a couple of things that I think are spot on. Some of them are things I was already half aware of, but the comments help me to think of what I could do different.

Thank you! Well, I am not Italian myself, but my girlfriend is. I managed to lure her to the cold and dark Netherlands.
