In a heartbeat

By WahSp on Yesterday 8:09 am

A simple one this week, because I again had little time. Doing a lot of work on our garden right now and work is basically always demanding. Last Friday I suffered through heart palpitations while lecturing. I have them sometimes and they are harmless as far as we know, but I take them as a sign that I am maybe trying to do too much at the same time.
Fortunately there were two of us and my colleague (and friend) did most of the work.

More or less same approach as in last weeks: Midi from Tidal Cycles piped into Ableton that I use as a glorified VST host and for a bit of (amateuristic) mastering. Normally I spend more times creating elements. This time I had to stick to the few elements I managed to create in the fragmented time that I had.

This started with my trying to create some strings in Zebra 3, using modal synthesis. For this track I decided to also slap a tape emulator onto it.

I personally really like the brass-like lead that I made with the Arturia Juno 6 emulation. There is something about that filter LFO that gives it a delay-like feel.

I will probably want to build this out into something more substantial in the future. Maybe also add some variation in terms of chord progression.

And: It needs to be said every now and then. This community is great. Much love to all of you! I am sorry that I am not able to listen and comment more these weeks.

It's amazing how warm VSTs can sound! I'm assuming that bass is the memory v? I have a previous version of the V collection, at some point I'll have to upgrade. Great job, and hope you're able to take it a bit easier this week! Heart palpitations are not fun. Hopefully it's nothing serious. Be well, friend!

Oh, the whole atmosphere around those lovely pads pull me right in from the start! Strong stuff.

Little time and zebra 3 sound design (or sound design in general) is a challenging combo, but you did great.
