Hey hey hey, I did some vocals. This one started with a riff and immediately I had a vocal idea so that's pretty much how the song became vocal driven. I just need to try to force myself to write a lyric on the first idea I have for a song.

I'm not sure specifically what genre of rock I'm going for here, but it's definitely supposed to be more of a rock song than metal. I haven't really found a guitar sound I'm in love with. I want a tone that's really dirty but has a really nice scratch when palm muting. But yeah, this isn't the sound I like yet. The song itself ended up kind of frankensteined and the mix is a bit weird, with the only recourse being starting over again but I'm not going to do that lol. I also got the point when I started making the mix worse with subsequent edits so I decided to just stop and turn it in.

As the lyrics, they serve their purpose. Although I'm not completely satisfied with them because they're so surface level and I feel like I'm not approaching this kind of heavy subject matter tactfully and with the tremendous care it really deserves. My intent is sincere though, I've just always been bad at articulating how I feel. But hey, that's what WB is all about, putting yourself out there in more ways than one.

This is really good! Everything about it is just awesome. I love the opening riff and the really dirty crunch you have on your guitar. The vocal performance is nice and I thought the lyrics were well written. I like that they are just ambiguous enough that the listener can interpret it in many different ways. This reminds me of Alice In Chains' Jar of Flies EP (one of my favorites). This is so goooooood!! Nice job! I will definitely be listening to this one over and over.

sounds great.. wink

sounds super dope! guitar sounds awesome! lyrics are tough. yours seem alright! the story is obscured, I am guessing on purpose, so it's hard to figure out what's going on but it sounds good rhythm and sound wise (altho I needed the text to follow). One thing about vocals that could be improved but you need the conditions for it is to just plain sing louder, to get all the overtones and stuff. I suffer from the lack of conditions cause I can't be loud in my house. anyway! big_smile thanks for this solid track!

It's hard to get perspective on your own lyrics. This doesn't come across as insincere or on-the-nose. Nice work! Way to put yourself out there.

As always, I dig your chord progressions. Great work with the vocals this week too!

Very happy to hear your vocals here man!

I quite like the song. I do like the main crunchy guitar tone and electric bass tone.

That's a great rock track! Good job on the vocal and their melody. They work very well with the prog guitar lines! Cool riffs, good melodies, killer track.

what an awesome and cool rock song. the guitarwork is excellent as always. I love the part from 2:11 very much. the wall of sound you create with multible layers of guitars is stunning. the vocals are floating over the music so very well. You must have a lot of knowledge to come to such an elaborated song. the spirit of many cool bands like soundgarden, smashing orange,...  are involved in this track. very well done.

This sounds great, the vocals are a bit muddy, but I love the effects on them.

Badass and I love it. Downloading.

P.S. When it comes to "very attractive to me music supporting some saaaad lyrics" it's curiously refreshing to see the appeal to hope at the end. heart

I second Q-Rosh with the part from 2:11. It's fantastic.

you 100% have something going with these vocals!! very cool style

Nice, I wasn't initially thinking Alice in Chains but I now hear that their influenced rubbed off on me in this track. Glad you liked it man smile

Thanks! Maybe I was a bit too critical on the guitar tones in this song, they do work but I do think I could refine them better. And for the vocals, I'm a generally soft spoken person so singer louder has always been my nemesis, haha. I really just need to get in the garage or something and belt out some lyrics. I did a mix of this song where I turned their volume up a bit but it ended up making the intro sound really quiet by comparison when the vocals first come in so I didn't know how to fix that in the remaining hours.

Thanks! I guess I was just nervous because it's more about empathizing with someone else's state of mind, and I didn't want it to come off as me completely misunderstanding how another person is feeling, if that makes any sense.

Thanks! I did some retro-active analysis on this track because I've been getting more curious about chord progressions and I found that I'm actually playing the same chords often, like a D# major, but I'm just voicing it in different ways or layering more thirds on it. I can release my amateur sheet music/tabs for it if you're interested. I can just append it to the track description. I'm kind of a music theory noob, I think the song is in B Major or D# Phyrgian since the iii chord is emphasized so much.

I am a huge fan of Soundgarden so I'm glad that showed through! It's cool your perception of the song is it being elaborate, all I'm really doing most of the time is slamming together different chord shapes. I think the most analytical I got on this song was coming up with the guitar melody behind the verse because I picked a bunch of weird chords to throw together for the sake of, well, being weird. What I ended up doing was coming up with little melody fragments for each of the chords that stayed strictly within those chord tones and then bridge them together. I wasn't entirely sure it would work at the time of recording but listening back to it later, it came out sounding pretty nice smile.

Thanks Spider! I was struggling with getting the vocals to cut through without also making the instrumental section behind them sound quieter. I don't know if it was entirely a mix issue or not singing loud enough. But I did try fixing them and eventually gave up and uploaded this version. They seem to sit well on the sides when listening on headphones but on a stereo system in an actual room they're very buried. sad

Thanks! I've written some songs that focus on sad stuff before, but I'm starting to feel like it feels cheap when I do that. Like I'm tugging on emotional heart strings for the sake of it. Just very disingenuous. All things considered, I've lived a pretty privileged life and haven't experienced the emotionally taxing things a lot of people have. So I guess I've been thinking about how people need more hope nowadays and I kind of wish that for them. But I don't write happy tracks, so I figured I'd still write dark, ambiguous music but give the lyrics a positive spin tongue. Glad you appreciated it, and I appreciate you!
