There's Something in the Clouds

Having to rush this out the door today because I have a birthday party to attend (hopefully no major issues on the mix that I overlooked). The way I wanted to end the song was with some increasing distortion/bit crush applied to the instrumentation that also lead to a fade out, but because I couldn't figure out how to apply that kind of effect I just did a fade out instead. Also, for the first time ever I used the drum samples that come out of the Korg M1. They're actually pretty damn nice sounding, I don't know why I thought they wouldn't be. I'll have to use them more often. I'm used to just have a single snare or kick sample to work with so it's kind of different when there's like 5 separate kick sounds to work with, feels like it gives me a greater control of the texture of the drums.

Anyways, that's all I have to say. Also the title is 100% a reference to "Nope". Nope was dope. Check it out.

I haven't seen Nope yet but I'm sure it's pizza in the clouds. The answer is always pizza.

OOOOOO, I wanna hear moar trip hop vibes from you! (The arps are hella 80s, love them.)

And yes, Korg Gadget / M1 / ROMplers have wonderful and weird sounds, I need to go back to mining that like I was in the first few weeks.

Really enjoyable. I especially liked the whole outro section. I can totally hear the bitcrushing you were talking about. Nice work!

I like the synth wah sound. And the airy one around 2:00 big_smile
Since it’s kinda funny digital sounds it makes me think of a boss fight kinda track.

I second horatiuromantic in getting boss fight vibes from the track. Really like the outro!

Not just the drums, all the sounds are nice, the bass is taking point and the leads go real well with the harmonies

Digging the mesmerizing patterns and mysterious tone. Awesome work on this one!

I appreciate the texture on these drums, 5 different kicks made a great difference, feels like strolling along, and every step i got a new shoe on big_smile
Also, really love how it kicks into higher gear around midway thru, then something different with even harder edge after that, like a song with many different plateaus. So satisfying, nice one heart

The drums do sound good. I like how this goes into video game sound and yet keeps the tasty prog vibe that characterizes so many of your tracks.
