The Absent Day

This last week I experimented with a lot of different ideas but couldn't really land on anything in particular. Normally when that happens, my fallback is ambient music since it typically requires little compositional effort on my part (as far as chord progressions, melodies, structure) and is mostly just letting myself be guided by sound and texture alone. So I took some ideas, reversed them, slowed them way down, slapped a super verby guitar on top with an ebow, messed around in massive to create some dark pads, added some bass guitar, messed with izotope trash 2 to try to distort the overall song. I enjoyed making this and I like the way it came out, its the kind of dark ambient I might typically listen to when falling asleep which is pretty much the only box I need to check off for personal success haha.

I hope this sounds evokative enough to please some ears, if not its all good, it's mostly the type of thing that I would personally enjoy but not recommend to others.

Totally soothing. Beautiful work!

I don't know if you did see the movie 'The mothman prophecy', but some textures and progression reminded me the soundtrack of this movie that I really enjoyed.

This is a really really nice ambient track. I like that it's not just pads, there are occasional guitar (?) string touches here and there to vary texture. The movements of the pads is really nice, for instance how the atmosphere of the track shifts with a new darker pad from 4:17.

Really enjoyed this man. It's exactly what I was looking for to chill out to this week!

Fantastic chill ambient. Really nice work with the instrumentation and melodic riffs.

It's a chilling, but amazing experience.
