Slow Burn (ft. levelcapybara)

~~~~~~~~~
Satellites, tracing
Earth’s halo to the sunrise
on the other side,
pass overhead - slow,
afterburners aglow, and
transmitters chirping.
To hear them discuss
sunlight, from that vantage point -
it’s just magical.
I'm super excited this track can finally be released. This started way back in July when I sent some ideas over to Capy and he sent me back a wonderful arrangement, but then I got that job offer and became embroiled in the whole training my replacement and adjusting to the new job that I didn't have the energy/inspiration I wanted to have to put towards finishing this song. Well I finally got back to reopening the project, listened to it and was like "This needs to get done". It actually got finished really early this week so I thankfully had a majority of this week to just watch a series of videos on audio engineering and kept coming back to this song to make mixing tweaks. It could of course probably sound bigger and more dynamic and more detailed but I'm pretty proud of how far it came from where it was.
An element of the song itself that I'm really happy with, an idea that I wanted to preserve since it's conception, was that I wanted Capy to build something off an idea I sent him and then I wanted to build off what he sent back. The first half of the song before the ambient break was what I sent over and I got back some vibraphone, synthpads, piano, and horn arrangements that got layered in on that original idea. So then I took elements of those instruments and combined them into the vibraphone for the second half of the song where it would be the driving force of the song and then wrote some guitar, bass, and drum stuff over it. And then all of the parts come together for the climax. It just feels super nice to have that kind of balance, so I hope everyone can hear our distinctive musical personalities in this track ^_^
Amazing Track! I so love the huge energy and expansive sound throughout heart
D'awwww, what a cute pic! heart Great to see this track go live. I had a blast collaborating on it!
That picture is just adorable.
The first time I heard the second part I was taken aback, but it's really good and I'll love it forever.
The bass sound is great. So much reverb on the kick drum, I never do that, I should try...
The ambiance is spot on for Halloween as well. Very cool.
I reckon this would be an epic track with a live band performing it.  Lots of solid ideas and I really dig the brooding element of the track along with the bass groove later in the tune.
Nice work, guys! You really took the production up a notch from the sneak preview I got earlier this week. It really smacks! Around 5:20 when guitar chords are hitting, everything is just sounding so smooth and polished but also energetic. Perfect crescendo for the track. A great vibe. Hits the spot beautifully.
This was awesome to just get lost to in this morning. You took your time evolving the sounds and it paid off, it’s a nice journey
What an epic piece. It takes its time to build up progressively. I will have to go back and listen to it several times, it sounds like it has a lot of depth. The production is really top-notch. Even as the layers add to each other, there is still so much space and clarity. I really love the tone of the bass and the guitars. There are also those little rhythmic patterns that are subtle and keep things exciting (for instance at the 1:24). Great track! I want a full album of that kind of music!
