Pray Tell

By ViridianLoom on January 5, 2020 11:31 pm

January is always the busiest time of the year at my job (60 hour work weeks) and I was kind of an idiot and went a little too big picture on this track.  The result is some ok ideas but kind of a sloppy mess.  This might have been a cool song with an actual drum track but I tried my best with Battery and I can't make drums that sound convincing. I also would have liked to done some vocals, but meh. No time. Gonna think smaller scale next week.

love the bright noodly clean tone!

I don't now if the name of the tracks refers to THAT Pray Tell, anyway...

The Battery programming sounds quite fine to me. Maybe if you lower the volume down and bring the guitars a little bit up, it would fit better. AS I hear it, the structure fits the mood quite well according to the genre, but they sound a little bit too clean compared to those folky/"hüsker du"-ish guitars.

Try to dirt them a little bit with a slight reverb. My two cents, anyway

Thanks! I really appreciate the feedback. I'm definitely looking out for all the advice I can get to improve my chops smile

The main struggle I encounter with drums is that I don't know if I don't like the sound or the beat itself. I admittedly compensated by bringing up the volume when I probably wanted more attack on the kick or something. I'm just going to dip my toes in gradually over the coming weeks. That or enlist the help of my bandmates and get the drummer to record a decent performance tongue

The tones is great for this tune. You using a plug-in for the guitar? or DI?

Thanks smile I just bought bias fx2 from a holiday sale so I really wanted to use it. The bass was also run into Bias.

That's quite the journey. The drums are serviceable, really an instrument all their own, integral to the story it's telling.

great guitar my friend!  love your chords and arpeggios

I appreciate the kind words! For this song I think I was playing with a capo on the 2nd fret which is probably why some of the chord voicings might sound interesting.

I appreciate the positive feedback everyone, I'm unfortunately a little embarrassed by this upload because I had a version of this song that sounded a lot better prior to me butchering on the day of the upload, haha. Glad y'all are finding some enjoyment in it though smile

ya that tone is tight!
