Oceans in your Veins

By ViridianLoom on December 23, 2018 6:29 pm

My girlfriend has trouble sleeping so we've made it a nightly thing to put on some chill music before bed. The main albums of our sleeping playlist are:

Demen - Nektyr
Toby Driver - They are the Shield
Godspeed you, Black Emperor - F# A#

So I was messing around with FM8 trying to come up with some ideas when I came across this cool ambient synth texture that reminded me of those albums. While writing this track I was pulling inspiration from the characteristics of that music, with huge reverb and violins playing a prominent role. I'm pretty happy with the way this came out and just hope it doesn't sound too messy with the ping ponged reverb.

Sorry its not very jolly for Christmas time. Also sorry if the last chord gives you blue balls, no resolution for you! tongue

That's a great idea, and your compo is perfect for a chill time before the night. it's intricate but relaxing at the same time, FM has great tones to relax.

The panning on the guitar is uncomfortably left, and the reverb trying to level it is more of a tease than it is effective. Everything else is real pretty, not Christmassy, but pretty still.

Hoping you'll be playing this as part of your shut-down cycle. Panning sounds OK to me, as does the final chord.

Smooth and relaxing. Very nice!
(Also: I didn't know Demen before, from a quick listen it sounds like a great album. So thanks for that!)
