Decided to stick territory that I'm a bit familiar with for this week. When I started jamming out this idea it kind of reminded me of Darren Korb (composer for pretty much all the Supergiant games), so I initially tried to roll with that but it kind of became a dark ambient groove inspired by the likes of Piggy Black Cross/Gazelle Twin. I also watched the HBO Watchmen series this week which has a pretty awesome soundtrack so I don't know if they entered my subconscious in anyway. I would have liked to develop the progression of the song so it keeps exploring more ideas but the intent to was write something a bit easier to finish. I consider last week's song is be a failure because I messed up the mix at the last second and struggled to cohesively fit the pieces of that song together and barely got a semi functional drumbeat on it. Oh well, gotta fail sometimes to learn new things.

I utilized microtonic for this week's project because its easier to create beats that sit in the mix well pretty much right out of the gate compared to building a kit in battery.

Plugins used:

Raum Reverb (free download for christmas so why not)
Synth1
Spire
Microtonic
Tal-U-NO 60 for some deep bass
Izotope Ozone for "Mastering" (I'm not going to lie, I just used Mastering Assist and called it a day because I thought it sounded pretty deece)

Maybe this is how Ulillillia feels when he sees a mirror.

the plucky delayed arp and that bass both sound great! I can hear the inspirations in the piece too, has an "intrigue" vibe to it.

those are some crispy percussion sounds. im digging the surrealist sort of vibe going on here

This bass sound is really great through the song! It is another very easy song to be lost in your thoughts.

Aw man, Mirror of Intrigue probably would have been a better title. Haha. Cool that you're hearing the inspirations, thanks!

Thank you! The percussion is all synthesized with microtonic, a pretty cool vst worth checking out.

Thanks! That's the kind of effect I hope to have on others with the tunes I work on smile

I had to look this person up to know what you were talking about, now I understand. Thankfully the fandom wiki listed it as an obvious bullet point that the guy is afraid of mirrors.

I like that resonating synth and the initial melody draws you in, beats are clean and work very well with the synths.
