Lost in the Passage of Time

By ViridianLoom on December 11, 2022 9:00 pm

I saw one of Orange Drink's videos recently where he did a live acoustic jam and it took me back to when I lived at my parent's house and I would be up at like 3 in the morning in the garage jamming out on my acoustic guitar and singing, just really being in the moment where I was alone and no one could hear me so I didn't feel anxiety and it felt liberating. So I decided I wanted to try to capture that with an acoustic guitar song this week. For like the last month or so I've been listening to a lot of darkwave/goth rock and one of the bands I enjoy the most is a band called Lycia. I feel like their influence really shows through on this track. In general, pretty happy with this one. I deliberately kept the vocals kind of mixed low while trying my best to EQ it so that the lyrics would be audible but the vibe I'm going for here is more of a dreamy-washed out feeling. I had the vocals mixed higher at one point but I felt like they were overpowering the arrangement. I don't think Whisperwave is a thing but I'm going to dub this song that nonetheless.

Also, I don't know if this speaks to my insecurity about my lyricism because I always want to say what a song is about, but the idea behind this song is about feeling like there's never going to be enough time to do everything you want in life. And also a little bit about the concept of "The Second Death" and hoping art can transcend it.

Wow. That was powerful, and beautiful. Really loved the overall vibe of it. I was lying here on my bed listening and it really took me far away. Your effects on the guitars are perfect. I thought the whispered section was nicely done. In my mind, at the end I imagined that part reprised but with full amplitude and growls. Great to see you runnin strong here at the end. Keep it up!

Ah shit, now that you say that about the ending I can totally hear it and it would have been a good idea. Thanks for the kind words, glad you enjoyed!

“Whisperwave”! So good smile I love the harmonic movement, and your voice so ethereally perfect, it floats well with the organic tone of the guitars, and your lyrics work wondrous beauty like an impressionist painting. Skillful excellence, magical grace, superbly done heart

This is deep, not just the lyrics, but the tones of the sounds as well. It's very beautiful. Lovely to float on.

Wow! That was really beautiful. I loved everything about it. There are so many different layers and little bits here and there that make me want to listen some more times to really be able to appreciate them all. This is really really well done. I love the lyrical themes in this one as I feel like those things have also been on my mind lately. I think you really did a great job melodically capturing the melancholy feelings you are expressing in the lyrics. The arrangement is really well done and it definitely feels like every piece of the song has an important role and takes you through a sonic journey. Your guitar solo in the middle was also really awesome! Loved the phrasing! I think this is definitely one for the highlight reel for 2022.

For some reason I also was thinking back to like young me staying up all night just messing w/ tunes back when things were much simpler and I had way less responsibilities. This is really beautiful, holy shit. Absolutely love the sounds of your guitars here, like so much I'm kinda wondering if the drums are necessary for this tune (outside of the harsher 4:47-ish badassery)

WOW, this track is perfect. 100% love it.

very nice. prefab sprout vibes.

Very dreamy. Love that you put your vocals on some of your tracks this year, it is very hard to do (at least to me,even further on the mix...)

This is a very nice track.

Whoa, what a smooth ride! Totally groovy and mellow.
How did I miss this last week? tongue Anyway, great work!

What an epic track! This is a classic 70s space rock track, with better production. You keep kicking me out of my socks with the quality of your output!
