Curse of the Mundane

By ViridianLoom on July 31, 2022 11:36 pm

Meh, feel like I came up with some decent riffs this week but I never really found the inspiration or vision to tie it all together, which resulted in this kind of riff salad tune with poor transitions that doesn't lead anywhere exciting. It is what it is, I found myself resigned to just treating this as something I need to turn in and not a song that means anything to me.
I know it's probably one of those "Not as bad as you think it is" songs but I just felt zero excitement working on this so my feelings towards it are just meh. Maybe it'll speak to me later and I can rewrite it.
Anyways, I start my new job tomorrow, so here's the hoping a change up in life breaths new inspiration or some shit.

Confirmed; this sounds fabulous.

Love the swell intro (it's swell). The way the bell synth sound  sits on top of the rhythm guitars is cool. To my ears the lead guitar parts could stand to be pulled forward and featured sometimes. Clean guitar outro also sounds great. Good luck at the new job, FNG!

I like this, lots of tension. I'd say give this another look sometime down the line.

i think this is my first listen to a 'ViridianLoom' track after seeing you pop up on discord a bunch!
maybe it's because i only recently watched the latest "Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness" and seeing the title of this track...but...I think it could have been used in the soundtrack for the movie.

› yesifinallygettousethisbbcode in case no one's seen the movie yet

read your profile some and awesome that you have goals for this year (and glad your dad is recovering from cancer alright!)

in terms of the mix, i think i agree with

and would be dope to hear your voice on an upcoming track. you mentioned you had 3 tracks for 2022 with your voice i think? you gonna try to get that to 10 by the end of the year? or what are you feelin?

Definitely a not-as-bad-as-you-think track. In fact, I really like the flavor of this one! big_smile

I hope your new job is exciting! I can empathize with the feeling of being able to spit out a track (and your track really has a lot of huge moments) but, regardless of the actual objective result, the fact that there was no real excitement, no flash of inspiration urging one to complete the track with passion can feel like a failure.

There are definitely a lot of great moments. I'm always impressed how you're able to create such complex pieces, week after week after week.

have fun at the new job!

love the title.  this is fun and listenable, meandering for sure, but not annoying or distracting or boring.

I dug this one, read your write-up after-the-fact and was genuinely surprised by the "meh." The bell doubling is great, the heavy vibe is dope.

I know I'm late 'cuz I've been quite preoccupied with my job -- how's the new gig? Enjoying it? Having a good time?

Hey ilzxc! Yeah, it's been good! So far it's been smooth and I've had a pretty good grasp on the tasks that need to be done. The biggest change up for me is that I'm part of a larger team where I've spent the first two weeks doing meet and greets with all the different team members. Socializing to that degree doesn't come easy to me so that was the most taxing part so far but now it's starting to get a bit easier with repetition. Everyone has been great, the job itself is way more interesting to me, and there's so many opportunities to learn new skill sets so I'm stoked for the future. Thanks for checking in! ^_^ Hope you've been well.
