Bread Rising

By ViridianLoom on September 11, 2022 10:24 pm

Not much to say. More metal, kind of my default lately, and I had no clue what to name it. I'm currently watching that south korean show "All of us are dead" and making garlic bread for dinner, so Bread Rising I guess, haha.

The drummer's medical emergency at 2:35 was quite unexpected and enjoyable wink! Weird rhythms, very cool. The solo right after that has some great melody and interplay with the bass which I really enjoyed, and the bass generally in this track really sits deep in the mix in a great way.

Zing!

2:35 beats heart really like the arrhythmic / angular feel to this (still catchy, though!) -- kinda wonder how sustainable angularity could be (any bands come to mind that are heavy but do anything similar to this for any extended length of time?) Cool track.

incredible cool track.

Solid track again. Very nice. Really like that bass line.

lol I love this. I don't think anyone has you beat on the silly jokes and puns, you definitely carry the crown.

Haha, I love that you referred to it as a medical emergency. When I came up with the riff it felt like it had a dragged feel to it so I tried to do the same thing with the drum pattern. So it's super off the grid and janky (I actually had to move the whole next section off the grid just so it wouldn't come in too quickly), and as I was working on it I was thinking about whether or not it would offend your sensibilities which gave me new inspiration to make it as wonky as possible just to see if I could offend you, lol. But if you liked it, cool, I guess I failed.

Thanks! I don't know if there are any heavy bands that come to mind necessarily. I know plenty of bands that do some weird rhythmic timing stuff that gives the whole song/section a disorienting vibe but in this case I was deliberately trying to play off rhythm which I think is more of a thing jazz musicians are doing nowadays.

Some stuff that comes to mind: (only the first suggestion is heavy, sort of)
(Prog Rock) Maudlin of the Well - Clover Garland Island
(Math Rock) Redneck Manifesto - We Still Got It
(Jazz/Prog) Sungazer - Drunk

I love the hard-driven sense of determination in the guitars here coupled with a feeling of descent overall, perhaps into madness, perhaps just into acceptance, either way, i fall for it heart

I like how that descending chord progression from 0:30 on, with its mysterious feel and how the bass is running around it. The section from 2:35 is 11 dimensional music composition. My brain is melting while trying to figure out what is happening there. The lead that comes after this section is very satifsying, with its smooth tone.

dawn of the bread
This has a really nice tension to it, really digging it

HI listening to a random track of yours to let you know I'm alive!  I have to catch up on a bunch of your tracks, but this title intrigued me smile

the stutter stop at the end third was really terrific and unexpected.  I actually wanted you to come back to that after the solo and fade out.

…but save that for Bread Rising 2: When You Yeast Expect It
