Blood Flowers and Sun Chambers

By ViridianLoom on September 29, 2024 3:21 pm

This is a *really* old song. I originally wrote it way back in... pffft... probably like 2010 or 2011? I used to write a lot of this music and then transcribe it into Guitar Pro 5 tablature that I could share with band mates or, in instances like this, where I could export the midi and then chiptunify it. (Oh, and bonus points for anyone who might guess what the title is referencing. A few hints, it's named after a boss arena in a GameCube game that features one of Nintendo's popular characters)

Its kind of crazy but I have a shit ton of material from back then that I never recorded or released. Maybe at least a couple of LPs and EPs as Viridian of the Loom. I want to work on bringing that stuff to light, particularly for my friends who invested so much of their time in exploring all my crazy ideas.

So while I'm on this nostalgia trip, for those that are interested in checking out some old footage, here's a video of a Viridian of the Loom performance (circa 2010 I believe). And hey hey hey, most of the musicians you see are all here on weeklybeats right now. From left to right, it's Beef Pounder on bass, Saguaro Gigante on guitar, Lukayu on drums, and then myself on guitar/vox.

Wow, a wild origin for a chipmetal song = using Guitar Pro to transcribe tabs 🤯

I was kinda hoping that an actual guitar would enter at some point and elevate the tune into a wild ride. Instead I got a break and a castlevania-esque climax. Can't complain!
