A Seed for Future Days

By ViridianLoom on August 14, 2022 9:37 pm

Probably going to be doing a lot of these type of stripped down, single instrument songs for future weeks because music isn't really my priority lately, but I still want to keep up with WeeklyBeats. I started working on this today and figured it would probably make a good solo piece that I could develop into a bigger arrangement on some future week by adding guitars, bass, drums, synth pads, etc. Or, if anyone wanted to take this idea and transform it into something new, I'm interested to hear your results. The rhythmic timing without a beat may be a little odd, I couldn't decide on how long I wanted pauses to last for.

I appreciate those of you that have continued to listen to my tunes these past few weeks, I need to get caught up on every else's music. heart

That chord at 220 got me. Glad to have you here pressing on, even though I’m sure you’re busy with the new gig. this is going to be a strange reference considering the content, but the opening melody reminded me of how the guitar and bass come together on RHCP - Californication, even if it’s not exactly the same.

This track has a wispy, bittersweet feeling to it. Really interesting chords. Nice job!

sounds like a nomadic wanderer with a keen sense of direction heart

There's some really pretty material here. I'd be excited to hear it embellished the way you described above!

This is strangely a really nice change of pace, forced by your lack of time.

this is so sad, like i'm the only person in the piano bar and it's raining and i missed the last train home and have no idea where i'm going to spend the night...

oh god the 220 chord, blighters was right

downloading and putting on repeat again

It's okay, take care, and this piece is very nice. I'm not sure if I'll do anything with it, or maybe I will, who knows.

This. This is the perfect way to describe the mood that comes from this piece. The fact that it's stripped down contributes even more to it. Maybe some footsteps samples, small rain sound and a distant sax or clarinette could work with that. That's a very pretty seed that deserved a lot of love.

Well realized and complete without additional layers. I could hear parts of this as soundtrack to a film at more reflective moments.

This is a really nice track as it is. Beautiful chords and melodies. I really like this electric piano.

Thanks for the track!

Yep, this works. This is a really good idea, and I should do this -- do just enough work to get a sense of how some material progresses to have a little "library" of proto-songs / ideas without fleshing them out. Really nice harmonies in this.
