The name comes from latin- the inability to move/walk/proceed forward. At least that's what I think it means.

Oh, I hate that. A few years ago, I had a night terror where there were three blonde children with connected bodies whose heads spiraled like flowers following the sun - but at near audio rate speeds. I couldn't move and it freaked me out so bad. I don't think I slept for a week after that.
