Weekly Sleeps

So I've been listening to a bunch of Massive Attack while working from home lately, and this week I'd tried to make a few other starts on a tune including a 90s big beat thing, a euphoric trance track, I started a chord progerssion on the acoustic etc and I scrapped all of them after 10 minutes of throwing ideas around... slightly frustrated by this, I started up yet another project Sunday night (WB deadline is 11am Monday here in AUS at the moment) and loaded up some random patches/drum kits and instantly resonated with a Massive Attack sounding kit, very Karmacoma etc. Then my youngest daughter (1 and a half) toddled her way into the room and demanded I pick her up as I was filming some of the playthrough for this week's video... I then recorded the vocals with her on my lap, and she started nodding her head after my first take. From that moment I knew this was the track to see through. It's not perfect, but I have fond memories attached to it. It's not mixed perfectly, I could have probably sprinkled more stuff on it, but, born half way through WB2020, this was Esther's first WeeklyBeats jam... 10pm on a Sunday like a true little rockstar. I was also a bit burnt out on the WeeklyBeats front from coming back to Week 1 and making a video for it later in the week, kind of felt like I'd already spent my allocated time on WB this week kind of thing so moving forward I've set an expectation for myself that I will film as I create, and worst scenario get the video up the same day as the track, but not necessarily by the submission deadline... on that note, I'll have the video posted within the next 12 hours 
there's also a very obvious source of inspo for my vocals haha
